haha hurray for alabama! I live here. And it is cool.

well NJ has Princeton!!!

beat that :D

I wanna go to the US and see what life is like over there.

if only i can convince my parents (who have more money than brain cells) that “america” is safe and I won’t be in danger by taking a holiday to the US. Do any of you have parents that are absolutely paranoid about your safety?

OH- and my parents are worried by the recent string of plane accidents as well. I may as well swim my way to uni next year at this rate.

Did you know that you have more of a chance of being stung by killer bees than dying on a plane accident? Or more chances of being kicked to death by an angry mule?

Well, now you know, and knowing is half the battle.

You’ll be relatively safe in Alaska! Not too much robbery or gunshots over here… oh wait nevermind… alaska doesn’t count as “america”…

Its a pity Princeton isn’t in Alaska

Nuh-uh! Princeton’s the only excuse for me to get the heck outta here!

Same here. I’m going to see what my take on the SAT will get me. If i pretty much more than 780 all round then I might just do a Princeton ED. if not… ill just stick to a Cornell ED.

But then anywhere’s better than where I am now … I figured if I want to do something in life I may as well go big.

I like your attitude Kjoodles.

Question to all 2010 ED’ers! How are string ensemble groups… like quartets… at Princeton? Is anyone planning on joining one?

frozen tears can you kind of describe the differences in feeling you had about yale and princeton

I hated Yale, but then again i was biased because i hated New Haven

lol I absolutely LOVED Princeton. Much much more than I already did before, if that’s even possible.

Yale had been #2 on my list, but after visiting, it’s slipped a bit. When I visited Princeton, I really liked how quiet and green it was (of course, part of the quietness must have come from the fact that it was late August). The campus is absolutely gorgeous, and so is the town. Yale is green only in some parts, not quiet at all, and it’s not really possible to stay within the school and avoid New Haven because the streets of New Haven go straight through the Yale campus.

At first I was also a little worried that Princeton is more removed from city life and that it would be a two hour roundtrip commute to anywhere really lively, but there doesn’t seem to be much to do in New Haven. Okay, so as everyone says, it’s a seedy place. I couldn’t even tell where the Yale Bubble border was (which is supposed to divided the nice part from the not so nice part), and being from a kindof upper middle class area, it was a little scary… from my point of view, there would be more to do at Princeton. (I also discovered, after visiting Boston and NYC, that I wouldn’t be as comfortable in a big city anyhow.)

The biggest difference was in the people, I think. I actually hadn’t had a chance to drop my luggage off at a hotel before visiting (we had to catch the tour!) so I rolled my suitcase onto campus and people thought I was a freshman who was moving in especially early, haha. Everyone I met was really nice, and even when I didn’t say anything, they smiled back and said hi when I smiled at them. In contrast, Yalies pretty much ignored me.

My feelings about the places? Princeton felt like home to me. Yale felt a little like the northern end of Central Park.

Wow. The coolest, you say. Usually I get a lot of crap for my associations with the first and last of those A-states. However, the weather is nice, and the landscape quite pleasing – especially western AR. For those 10ers (tenors? are any of you 10ers tenors? that would be funny) who have not “met” me (I hang out on the prefrosh board dispensing valuable information and avoiding chances threads), I’m an '06 CEE from AL. Feeling a bit of sympathy for you all since I’m doing applications and interviews myself this year… it doesn’t end, let me tell you. Good luck to all. : )

Hey, thanks, lythoglyphic! Good luck with your stuff, too :)

Frozen-tears - you have summed up my feelings EXACTLY. I felt like even when you were on the yale campus, you just couldn’t escape New Haven. It was a little unnerving. Princeton, on the other hand, really does feel like home. The town that it is in is a lot bigger than most people think, so there really is a ton to do.

Thats it. No more parties, no more going out 3 nights a week. no more rugby practice. I am going to spend the next month getting that darn SAT up to perfection and I am going to grill my teachers for extrodinary recommendations. And I’m going to push my principal into properly explaining the education system here.

Oh- my parents have finally given in and are letting me do what I want with my life- which is great cauz i’m going to the US right after the october SAT so I can see first hand where on God’s earth I wanna be…

Should I organise beforehand with the universities that I’m going to see to book a tour or can I just turn up?

No, if you’re going by yourself or with only a few other people, you don’t need to make reservations. Just make sure that there actually is a tour the day you go.

Add me to the list please.

Oh! I forgot to mention, Kjoodles. If you’re going alone and you want to stay overnight in a dorm, you DO have to let the university know. But I don’t think Princeton allows overnights… though Yale and Harvard do.

You can safely put the Wayman on the list… it’s incredibly satisfying to refer to yourself from the third-person perspective. Going to Princeton would bring about a lot of changes in my life, but I wouldn’t let it hinder my love for my favorite college basketball team, the Michigan State Spartans. Now only if MSU provided a better academic education. That has to sound weird coming from a New York native, but the college teams in NY are nothing special to root for. Anyways, let the college process roll babyyy.

Oh, c’mon… there’s gotta be ppl who love quartets and stuff… As for me… that’s like my favorite thing to do… if anybody cares… fine don’t listen to eskimos babble… :(
