So what are everyone’s top 3 majors/concentrations?

Mine: Undecided BA or BSE
Chemical Engineering
Chemistry
Aerospace/mechanical engineering

Amnesia, I’m probably going to fulfill the med school pre-reqs just in case I eventually decide to apply to med school. I haven’t really decided between engineering and medicine yet…

Haha ruling the world… my Acadec coach asked us last month what we were thinking of writing speeches about. I jumped up, punched my fist into the air and yelled, “WORLD DOMINATION!!!”

People freaked out because I was usually such a quiet person.

lol! i had a chem teacher who passed out a course outline on the first day of school… the last item on it was “universal domination.” there was a small note underneath explaining that he was a teacher so that he could control young minds, then eventually rule the world.

needless to say, it was a very interesting year.

yeah i had a teacher who was really loud and sang songs while pretending to be a toy monkey with cymbals. he’s five four probably so his big new york personality makes up for it. cool teacher, very, very interesting section-of-the-brain-that-controls-erratic-behavior though.

Frozen-tears, I’m also interested in aerospace. Assuming the worst (you are deferred/rejected), where else are you applying besides the obvious (MIT/Stanford/Caltech, etc)? I’m looking for more match schools.

I’m undecided as to what I’d like to major in. My interests lie in the classics and modern languages, but I also enjoy math and philosophy. I think I just need to feel around in college and see what really grabs my attention.

Other than MIT, Stanford, and Caltech, I’ll also be applying to
Harvard and Yale (reach for everyone)
Columbia College and Fu Foundation (match-ish)
UCBerkeley, UCLA, Wellesley, and Harvey Mudd (safe-match)
USC (safety)

I’d apply to Cornell, which is great in engineering and a good match for both of us, but (1) I don’t really want to go to school in Ithaca and (2) I’m applying to too many schools already.

well i’m not interested in aerospace engineering, lol, but here’s where i’m applying if i get deferred/rejected from Princeton:

Cornell (i love this school, it’s definitely my second choice)
Duke
Swarthmore (i’ll probably be recruited there for track)
Harvard (haven’t decided if i’ll actually go through with this… lol)
UVa
William and Mary
Tufts
Wake Forest
Lafayette
Villanova (my safest safety)

i tried to pick colleges from pretty much every tier, cuz you really never know what could happen. anyone thinking along the same lines?

Yeah, I thought along more or less the same lines, except I’m not considering applying to anywhere with a higher than 40-ish% acceptance. Not to be stuck-up or anything, but I simply don’t think there’s a point… kinda know what I mean? Half of the schools in that range would probably reject/waitlist me because of stragetic admissions, and then super-safe safeties aren’t safeties anymore.

my state school UF has a 52% acceptance rate. i’m still applying. it’s not a bad school or anything.

im applying to safeties, middle tier, and top tier. we will see what happens. it’s daft to say “i will be going to _______” because stuff happens.

yeah i’m applying to stanford, yale, brown, usc, and uc’s, but i hope i don’t have to send out the apps. reason being: i’ll get into princeton ED. but if i don’t, i have the tiers covered.

i don’t know about anyone else, but i have a song picked out if i don’t get in: beatles-let it be. if i get in, i won’t need a song because i will be running around the neighborhood trying to make myself believe it.
