No, that’s #4 yes ( Nazareth, Catholic, U Tampa, Cortland) So we feel comfortable with some choices. Still waiting on some big ones ( pace, Syracuse, uncsa, ball State, Point Park, Coastal Carolina + few more )
Curious how many frenchwoods families are in here going through this process. Seems son always runs into FW friends at auditions and also gets asked about it a lot in auditions.
@collegeboundSam - wow, how awesome to have so many offers this early in the process!!
@onepercentmom Thank you. and congrats on yours (I believe I saw Marymount Manhattan sometime ago on the forum)
wow @collegeboundSam -4 is more than many get all season let alone before feb 1, congrats!!
My first post! I am curious about mid-year academic reports. Our guidance office just sent a note about submitting paperwork for schools that need mid-year reports. Does anyone know what schools require this for musical theatre applicants. Do we need to request or do they request it from the high school. Also, if they are required, what is the impact if your grades dipped to having some low C’s. Does this have any impact on the musical theatre applicant?
@collegehelp! This is probably different for every college. What schools are on your list?
@NYAndOne I am thinking it may matter to schools like NYU, Syracuse or PSU? BOCO maybe?
@peacemama The standard TXST dance call does not have a tap component. If you are a strong tapper i believe you can ask to demonstrate. Not positive about that though.
Just wishing you all the best of luck and oh so much patience. Also want to let you know, once your child is in college there is still
Much to help them with/ worry about!!! Auditions in and out of college, summer job auditions etc. I just returned from a trip with my daughter! So at least I’m still needed. I still get to help out with audition material etc. hang in there all!
For those of you whose child auditioned for Otterbein in NYC, did you do all the stuff with the songbook? My D’s audition is in the middle of two others with different requirements, so I was hoping that they were less strict in the Unified audition format versus on campus.
Can anyone that stayed at Palmer house In previous years speak about the elevator situation? Just how bad is the elevator service on the NON-executive floors? Which elevators stop on the main audition floors 3-7? As I understand the executive floor elevators also stop on floors 18 and maybe 8 in addition to 22 &23. And the other floors have specific elevators for a specific number of floors. If you stay on the executive floor would you just take the stairs down to the audition floors from the stop on the 8th floor? I’m so torn as to what to do. Thinking of downgrading to a regular room as it is $400 less expensive. Any guidance would be appreciated!
@“collegehelp!” Your list has some of the schools (NYU and PSU and possibly Syracuse) where academics count so yes, mid-year grades need to be sent. BoCo probably won’t care.
@suledamo - for $400, I would walk the stairs!
We didn’t do Chicago auditions but I’ve stayed in the PH before and I don’t feel like it’s worth a difference in cost to have a dedicated elevator. it’s not like there won’t be lots of Hilton elites taking those elevators and since they get upgraded for free.
@suledamo there were 2 sets of elevators but I don’t remember there being an issue - they were pretty quick. My d gets headaches in elevators so she walked up and down like 16 floors a couple times LOL
@CaMom13 and @MTdreamz thank you for the feedback! This was my gut feeling as well, but so many people talk about how great the exec floor is etc. I think i just lost sight of reality in the craziness of all these decisions lol.
@suledamo a lot of people like the executive floor for the free breakfast, free snacks & drinks available and that fact that the rooms have 2 bathrooms
Has anyone heard from Shenandoah since NY Unifieds?
To clarify, many of the rooms at the Palmer House have 2 bathrooms, this is not an exclusive feature of the Executive Floors.
Yes, those are nice benefits that I thought were going to be great for us, but I have discovered over the past few weekends of auditions/travel that my DD really only wants to eat one thing for breakfast on audition days and she’s vegetarian so I doubt any of the evening food will be good for her to eat. We’ve also developed a nice schedule of bathroom use. The only real benefit I could see for us was the elevator. So I canceled our 2 bed 2 bath exec floor room last night. Thx for the help. Excited to get this Chicago trip behind us!
@lovetoact I just sent you a message re:Cortland
