The Class of 2023- sharing, venting, discussing! - MT

Hahaha! So speaks the mom whose daughter had a ton of options!!! For some of us, the waiting was the hardest part. Okay the prescreens were the hardest part, then the rejections, then the waiting. I booked the accepted student plane tickets in February before we even had audition results because she only had one spring break to do it on… and it was the first week in April!!! I booked us into NYC and figured if she got in nowhere else we’d visit her BA backup schools and go see a bunch of Broadway shows as a consolation prize. Okay, that was definitely stressful to plan now that I think about it.

@DadOfMTboy ahh Frenchwoods! My husband went there for years way back when. He is a guitar player and loved it. Many of his fellow campers have gone on to be very successful in this business!

@MEMTmom - my D is also Class of 2018, so I know what he’s doing- he’s on the audition lines every day of the week!

Does anyone have experience taking the train from O’Hare to the Monroe stop and could say how long the ride takes? Did someone say earlier that this particular ride is 45 minutes? Getting excited for Chicago Unifieds–my daughter hasn’t even started her auditions yet! I’ve been happy to hear about acceptances, sad to hear about denials…but looking forward to getting this show on the road for my D! Thanks so much!

@MTmom919 We took that route last year. I would say that 45 minutes is about right.

@Mark80 I don’t know if this would be helpful in a Polar Vortex situation, but you can get Informed Delivery from USPS. The USPS scans all of your mail when they receive it and sends you a daily email with photos of the scans so you know what you will be receiving that day, including packages from Amazon, etc. It’s a free service. Here’s the link: https://informeddelivery.usps.com/box/pages/intro/start.action

Yes @Emsdad is right as usual. And those rooms with two baths are the ones who have not been remodeled. They are very spacious and having that extra bath is a great perk. If you get a lower floor you can consider taking the stairs. And think of the money you will save  On another topic, when will the powers that be consider an earlier Unified audition date before he weather gets bad???

Since they are calling for a warm up, maybe 40’s, after this extreme subzero temps, I expect there will be fog, which may mean flight delays etc, depending on how dense it is.

@NYAndOne Her yes came from the UCO, the theatre performance BFA. UCO is a school where students often audition for musical theatre again in the second year and change majors. The theatre performance BFAs are also allowed to enroll in a lot of the same classes as the musical theatre program.

We really thought she bombed the theatre performance audition. It was at the beginning of the process. She went with her class to the shadow day. Her teacher gave them the requirements late Wednesday. She only had one monologue ready, and the requirements said she needed two, so she just picked a monologue from her middle school years. We didn’t think it was strong enough, but she knew it, so she went with it. Now she’s wondering if she should use it at Unifieds. It isn’t really in age range, it’s 10-14ish, but she looks like she is 14 without makeup.

@Eastchestermom - I also just read “The Process” post you shared, and it was fantastic!
@MEMTmom - He also posted an update on the Ithaca page which was a quick but great read as well:http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/ithaca-college-mt/1712588-very-happy-at-ithaca-college.html?new=1

For the students who got the email from WCSU, my D got a response from admissions - “You have been accepted as a Pre-Audition Musical Theatre student. We have not yet received audition results from the Theatre Department. Once we receive these results your major will be updated based on what you qualify for. Typically, the Theatre department will notify you of the results.”

So, we wait some more…

Soooo excited! S just received a YES for UArts!! (Walkin at NY Unifieds.) He really loved the audition with them!

congrats @lithpool

Congratulations @lithpool - how exciting! How was he notified?

Congrats @lithpool on UArts. Way to go!

Yay @lithpool, congrats to your S!

Congrats @lithpool ! My D got an acceptance too! She auditioned on campus though! Says it has been the most pleasant audition so far and they really made an effort to get to know her!

Congrats to your D @yellowheart!!!

@speezagmom Thank you! I appreciate your help.

Wondering…last year I remember seeing a list that was building (probably a “new” discussion) where folks could post their child’s acceptances. It was so much fun to watch the list build…see the patterns of where folks were heading…etc. As a newbie over a year ago…it gave me hope to know that this process would end with a positive result, and I remember wondering how those who had some choices made their choice in the end. Does anyone know if this type of list is building somewhere for the Class of 2023 already? It think it was just called something like “Class of 2022 MT Acceptances”…something simple like that. I don’t know…
