My kid auditioned for Rider at NYC Unifieds and last Monday the portal said that he was not accepted into the MT program. Today in the mail, he gets a large envelope from Rider with the rejection letter inside. It’s good that he already knew he wasn’t in so that he didn’t have a moment of excitement seeing a big envelope before seeing the rejection inside. Who sends a rejection letter in a big envelope?
FINALLY GOT ONE!!! Our son received his first yes from UArts today in the mail. He auditioned at NYC Unifieds for those interested. BAL to everyone in Chicago and elsewhere this weekend. And thanks everyone for the support through those first four no responses.
So D is on her way to her very first college audition this afternoon in Chicago for Tisch. Start of a busy week, very exciting for her, nerve wracking for parents. And I’m the one 1500mi away…
Some rejections come in large envelopes and some acceptances come in small!
@ZukAndSowash YAYYYYYYY!!! So happy for him! He’s got one and still more chances to come! Such good news.
I think sending a rejection in a large envelope is pretty stinky.
My D did walk-ins at LIU & Ohio at NYC unifieds but hadn’t heard anything yet. Anyone else in the same boat or know when we should hear?
@CanaDad - Tisch was a fun audition for me D - BAL to yours!
@ZukAndSowash Yay!! Hopefully with many more to come!!!
@ZukAndSowash so happy for your family! Congratulations!
@CaMom13
Verdict on Tisch from D was ”they couldn’t have been nicer, it was so much fun, the faculty were funny and engaging, the other kids were all friendly”. Sounds like a positive and gentle start to the week’s events
Fabulous. My daughters last audition of the LA Unifieds was at Tisch and she was on top of the world afterwards. It was nice to end on a high note! I hope your daughter’s sunsequent audition reviews are all as positive.
@ZukAndSowash Woohoo!!! Congrats!
I’ve been hearing how fun NYU Tisch auditions are. My daughter’s last audition this year is with NYU Tisch the day after LA Unifieds! Good to know the positive experience!
Bravo to Tisch for making auditions such a positive experience for many applicants!
I completely agree with the streamlining. There are some amazing kids who are top talents whose families are unable to afford the audition process at all.
@mtnyc19 My S received an Email from Shenandoah- he is still being considered. We haven’t visited campus yet but he really likes what he knows about the program.
I’m not a nervous person AT ALL, but the stress is really getting to me this morning. 50% of D’s auditions are this upcoming week at Chicago Unifieds. We really didn’t know what we were doing when we started this, and reading this board made me see that we should have applied to way more “safety” schools. D is gifted academically and has a great backup plan, but not being able to do MT will be devastating. She only got 3 rejections on prescreens, so I was feeling good, but the more I read I see that really isn’t a guarantee of anything. Maybe mom should step away from the computer!
Anyway, BAL to everyone this week!
@NewToThis13 It’ll all be fine.
My S had no idea what to expect when he went to NY Unifieds. He was scheduled for one audition and one dance call. But, when we got there, and he got the feel of things, he ended up doing an additional 4 or 5 walkins (all in one day) and loved it!!
We will be heading in to Chicago later today, and we are both excited, and hoping for similar experience!
BAL to all heading on this journey!
@NewToThis13 I felt the same way when we started the auditioning process in November. D, however, was not stressed and asked me not to read the boards. And, if I did, please don’t share with her. LOL. She was prepared and didn’t need the waters muddied. GL to your D this week!
BAL to all the MTers and Actors at Chicago Unifieds this week! Parents, have faith, let go of your worries and enjoy the week! Your kids know what they’re doing and this is their chance to get out there and shine. I hope everyone has a GREAT time.
