@kittysmom12 - If you want to be especially close, I would hold off on move in hotel until you find out which dorm - they are spread out
@SoCalPops thank you!
thank you!
Anyone heard from Elon that auditioned in Feb?
Regarding Penn State questions, S auditioned at NY Unifieds. Got a deferral email 2 or 3 days after the audition. (It was a good email).
Auditioned for CCM on the same day. S thought it was his worst audition. Haven’t heard anything yet.
For Elon, they still have two audition dates left, Feb 22 and Mar 1, so I wouldn’t expect to hear until mid-march earliest.
What a ride this experience is! The following story just proves you keep going no matter what because you never know what the outcome might be! D applied and sent in a pre-screen to Rider University for BFA MT. Pre-screen was not accepted, so D sent in an email asking if she could be considered to audition for the BA Theater - Concentration in MT. They sent the request off to the faculty and she was approved to come to audition for that program.
Fast forward to on-site audition day, Feb 9th. Arrived on campus and D immediately remembered all the things she loved about the campus from our initial visit a year ago and was energized to show them what she could bring to Rider. After the dance call, they were all given their order for their vocal/monologue auditions. As with every other audition, my D knew she probably would be the last to go do to the alphabetical order by last name. So here she was, last audition day for Rider for the season, and my D the last auditionee to be put in front of them to be considered for their BA Theater program.
10-15 minutes after she entered the room, I hear the familiar click of her shoes at a faster pace than normal coming down the hall. As she rounded the corner, she had a huge smile on her face and tears in her eyes and gave me a huge hug and said, they LOVED my audition and that they WANT to consider me for the BFA MT program! After both “celebrating” and taking the moment in, we both took a deep breath and reminded one another that there are so many stories of those that had the same positive experiences, but then ended up getting the rejection letter, so we left checking our emotions at the door. My D kept saying, I know that if I can get in front of them they would see something they did not get to see on my pre-screen video!
Every day, D was checking portal to see if they actually would change her major from BA Theater to BFA MT. Day 1, nothing. Day 2, nothing. Day 3, nothing. Day 4 - major CHANGED from BA to BFA! Still not celebrating yet, but D knew she was at least one step closer and why would they go through the trouble of changing her status if they were going to reject her? Knowing that they would be contacting the definite yes/no’s before the 21st of this month, D was hoping to hear something on Friday or even Monday which was one week after her audition. After a whirlwind of a weekend auditioning at Ithaca and Nazareth, we did not get back until late last night, so upon waking up this morning, D checked her Rider portal and found that it had been changed - ACCEPTED to BFA MT!
I am so proud of my D for having the courage to take that initial rejection of the pre-screen and turn lemons into lemonade and to prove she could be a contender for the BFA program! Just one battle won in so many that I am sure will be lost in the coming weeks, but wanted to share the story in hopes that future auditionees will know to not give up on your dreams, you NEVER know what will happen.
Good luck to everyone in the next month, D still has 2 more auditions left and then we wait to see where all the chips fall, but she has some great options already and that makes me a relived and proud mom!
@MTVTmom Congrats, very cool story!
@MTVTmom wow!! What a GREAT story. Congrats!!!
@MTVTmom Wow! Congrats!
@MTVTmom Congrats to your D and thank you for sharing!!
Sitting on the edge of our seats in hopes of some positive results this week…argh… the pain! lol
Wow @MTVTmom - that is fabulous, your D got into a dream school through persistence and faith (plus her talent and effort, of course)! That one goes in the “anything can happen / don’t give up” files along with @laylamom’s D getting into UNCSA last year after getting a rejection letter! I love it when things unexpectedly work out!!!
@MTVTmom wow! So many nuggets and take-always from your d’s Story! I’m so happy for her and you all! Great Grit! God knew right where she should be on that day and in that sequence of events to make that all happen. Sometimes we don’t see the big picture but HE does and I’m a strong believer in faith that all things are created for good.
D finally finished her last application for a walk-in from Chicago last night and had her last audition this past weekend. We are officially done with our part of the process. I kinda don’t know what to do with myself besides stalk this board and check her email obsessively. I thought our one yes would help me relax but with 11 answers to go I’m still twitchy.
I know this is titled “Sharing, venting, discussing” but I’d like to “process” because I absolutely hate this whole process.
S flew in on a red eye yesterday morning after USC callback weekend. He had to make the roundtrip from the east coast to LA alone, because neither my wife nor I could go with him. He was beyond exhausted, and slept all day, evening, and night. He just woke up, 24 hours later. Fortunately, it’s a school holiday yesterday and today.
For him, like so many, it’s been a long, grueling journey that really ramped up in mid-January (after a couple of fall auditions) and hasn’t let up since. He has one last trip this weekend, to one of his top schools. I’m just hoping he can keep the adrenaline going, because that’s all he’s running on right now. Add to all this that he’s missed 18 days of school, and is so far behind.
The stress on him and all of these kids is enormous. I am in awe of their resilience and perseverance. Even I am exhausted, and I haven’t done anything except logistics and cheerleading!
Anyway, nothing of import in this post. I just wanted to vent/process out into the ether, because I’m keeping this away from my son (as much as possible), and my wife is tired of my endless efforts to read the tea leaves.
Wishing everyone a great day, and hoping your D/S gets the news they’re hoping to hear quickly!
@NewToThis13 You can always add check portals 3X per day and stalking the mailman to your to-do list. LOL! Try to plan something to take your mind off of it. You will likely be waiting til April 1 to get all the answers in hand.
Has anyone had experience with Baldwin Wallace waitlist just for an audition? My son is waitlisted for 2/24 audition date. Wondering if he has a prayer of getting to audition and stressed about last minute travel in the midwest winter :-/
@“boola boola” My daughter was there, as well, and also went solo - how did he like it?
@theater9969 He loved it. It was a fun weekend, and so different from anything else in this process. He thought the faculty was really engaging and top-notch. He was crazy about the acting professor who worked with him, and felt that she brought out the best in him. He was excited about their vision for the program. And, having flown to USC straight from his frigid Michigan audition, he was head over heels about the USC campus! What was your daughter’s impression?
@“boola boola” - pretty much the same! She also LOVED acting teacher - did he tell you her nickname? I tried to post it - but it wouldn’t let me… lol.Found the Clowning workshop a little to hippy-dippy for her, but overall great impression!
