The Class of 2023- sharing, venting, discussing! - MT

@pegski My son was on waitlist for a Baldwin Wallace audition for 2/16 and got an email about a week before confirming the audition.

S just got a phone call acceptance from Kaitlin Hopkins (Texas State)! Thrilled!

@“boola boola” - pretty much the same! She also LOVED acting teacher AKA “■■■■■ on wheels” - which is apparently her nickname. Found the Clowning workshop a little to hippy-dippy for her, but overall great impression!

Has anyone heard back from University of Oklahoma MT? Are they calling, emailing, or mailing acceptances/rejections?

Huge congrats to @MTVTmom and @peacemama and any other acceptances I missed!! Hoping for good news for everyone still waiting like we are!

Congrats @peacemama!

Hi. Accidentally posted this on a different thread, but wanted to post here. Re: Montclair

No from Montclair. Head’s up for those waiting. Even though my son was already accepted academically (i.e. we KNEW this already!). The update letter begins with a bold faced “Congratulations!” And then in the second paragraph it says, to paraphrase: oh…but not to musical theatre…but hey…we’ve got some other great programs that your son who has only dreamed of musical theatre for his entire life might like “Arts, Culture and Design.” Not feeling too bad about this one actually, but do want to warn all of you who are waiting. And I’m keeping my fingers crossed that others get a more palatable 2nd paragraph!!!

Notice came via email pointing my son that update was made to portal. Letter was accessible through portal.

Syracuse just sent an email requesting filling out an anonymous survey about the audition experience and process. Some of the concerns must’ve reached the department, maybe will improve the future experience. Definitely was a strange one.

I’m so sorry :frowning: Same letter here. The wording sounds exact.

D got the same email from Montclair - terrible approach. Otterbein rejection also today. Viterbo yesterday… I also offered to cancel her auditions for this weekend yesterday and she was so relieved she was near tears. The grind is definitely tough and she’s ready for a break.

On a positive note she was offered a part in an area production - but it closes the weekend many schools have move in. Have to see if we can make the logistics work.

@peacemama SO EXCITING! CONGRATS!!!

@ZukAndSowash @afterp89 That is terrible! We are still waiting to hear from them. I will definitely warn my daughter not to get excited until she reads the second paragraph.

Okay some comic relief - this time last year Montclair was mailing academically accepted students… socks. And BFA rejection letters. The socks became a huge joke as the “consolation prize” and someone said you should keep them as they’re the most expensive socks you’ll ever buy. Chin up everyone - seas are rough but land is in sight and all you can do is sail.

@MTMom2019 We are still waiting for Montclair also. Sorry about that letter @ZukAndSowash and @afterp89, but thank you for the heads up. Congrats to @MTVTmom 's D and @peacemama 's S- great news!!

Good for you @afterp89 to see how tired she is. It’s a hard time and they aren’t made of iron.

Congrats @peacemama! Awesome!

Still waiting here on Ithaca, Otterbein and Oklahoma. With some no’s going out (sorry to all) it looks like no news is good news? One of my sons schools at Chicago said notifications week of 24th (next week). He thought it was OU but not 100% sure.

We are still waiting on results from six - all from Chicago Unifieds and then she has her last audition at Shenandoah on Saturday. Done!

We have only heard from 2 of my D’s schools (both no’s). We are waiting to hear from 15 more - ugh!

Congratulations @MTVTmom ! That’s fantastic!! I’m a big believer in being persistent and trying again, even when everyone tells you that you shouldn’t. And what a great future life lesson for her!

@MTVTmom - Once she’s out in the real world, your D will have to be persistent and have the hide of a rhino in order to prove herself to industry pros … over and over again. Sounds like she’s got that part down already! Way to go, congrats!
