Thanks for the tips! Once is one of my faves! One last (maybe! haha) BW question?? My son never received portal sign in information like he did at other schools. Do they not use a portal to notify? Just wanted to make sure we had access if they do! TIA!
SO happy BW came through for your S, @pegski!!!
“So is it true that FSU already filled all its spots but is still holding auditions this weekend? Heard a rumor that they only had 2 spots left before Chicago unifieds.”
This is ABSOLUTELY not true. We have not made MT decisions yet and we won’t even start discussing it until after the last auditioner leaves on Sunday.
As always, if you have any questions, drop me an email!
Michele
Had to laugh at the large envelop that arrived from Webster today…only to find it contained Financial Aid information. I don’t think she has even received an academic acceptance yet (unless they are a school that does one acceptance). I feel like the other schools did the academic acceptance, then financial award, then program acceptance/decline. Also wish that the daily emails from Western Michigan about accepted student days would hold off until she hears from MT
@pegski BW notified S first through email and then mailed the acceptance package.
@pegski Unless it’s changed from last year, there is no portal for BW. They will notify you via email.
I just wanted to comment that even though some program directors view CC as a joke, I can tell you after following threads for 4 years I am seeing more kids getting acceptances as the years go on. The reason is because applying for MT is a huge mystery and not everyone can afford a private coach (or even know they exist). The information other parents provide on CC has helped level the playing field and made it so that people can get at least some understanding of this bizarre process. I wish the program directors would have a teeny, tiny bit of support for the kids who are putting their hearts on the line to pursue MT.
I think the program director’s exhibit massive support for our kids. There might be some bad eggs…or maybe some good eggs who are having a bad day, but every single program director that I have been in contact with has been completely supportive of my son and me. I also understand why some program directors may have some mixed feelings towards CC. There is a tremendous amount of great support and great information here among us. But there are also these weird bits of misinformation that turn up and then get passed on (VB is leaving BW for instance). Let’s give these people, who have dedicated their lives to making great programs for our kids, the benefit of the doubt. After all this is over, they are going to be the people most responsible for guiding our children to success.
@ZukAndSowash ~Agree. Case in point re misinformation: there was a post today that all spots at certain school were filled even though they were having auditions this weekend. If you are beginning your post “Rumor has it…” maybe you shouldn’t be posting it.
I feel like such a loser mom! I never spoke with, emailed or even knew the names of any of the program directors last year!
I suck at networking so the words of wisdom from the folks who rep their schools here on CC were doubly important / helpful. I feel if programs don’t want to do any outreach online, it’s their prerogative but as a group we parents really appreciate the programs that DO.
S rejected by CCM today (email). Two weeks after his Chicago audition.
Sorry @Boola Boola. Rejections do sting. But your S has some yes’s to some great schools so hopefully you can focus on that!
@3Blessings Thanks so much. Yes, it stings. We felt, when there was no decision last week, that he was still in consideration. Hoping there are more yes’s to come (for us and for everyone here). But we are thankful that he has some options.
Can anyone who has auditioned at Millikin explain how the audition day is run? Is it all day? Do they give a time slot at check in? We are trying to make travel arrangements and it would help us to know how and what to expect before making definitive flights, car rental, etc.
jpkcmo do you have an acceptance date for Otterbein? I think it might be this month but wondering if there is a specific date? The waiting is hard!
@thespis1 No other Otterbein update other than in the acceptance thread. They’ll decide who is still in the running this week. Acceptances late Feb (next week) through mid march.
For those of you here who’ve had questions on how, when and where schools are notifying - there’s a dedicated thread over here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/musical-theater-major/2125862-class-of-2023-mt-artistic-acceptance-notifications-how-when-where-p11.html
Well, my S is on the plane right now, headed to Cleveland for his BW audition tomorrow. This is the last one. Number 26 of 26. And he’s flying solo this time.
It’s hard to believe it’s over. In fact, it’s a little sad. I had some fun with him in ways we haven’t in many years. And, barring a gap year decision, it’s surely a once in a lifetime experience. After tomorrow, we wait. And surely get some rejections that sting. And maybe, fingers crossed, something crazy good will happen. Who knows? But it’s been quite the ride.
Good luck to all who have finished or are finishing up this marathon. May your S’s or D’s dreams be realized.
@3Blessings Millikin is an all-day audition, with individual appointments at the end of the day to share decisions. Check your child’s email account because there is an email to contact if you need your individual appointment at the earliest time due to travel or other commitments.
@BoolaBoola Safe travels to your son! Our boys will miss each other as mine auditions Sunday. Darn it!! Congrats on being DONE with auditions! We have OKCU next weekend then DONE for us!! Tell him to break a leg!!
