The Class of 2023- sharing, venting, discussing! - MT

CCM and Penn State makes a handful of fall offers as well. Nonetheless, far better to be thoroughly prepared than to rush into fall auditions. I am, however, a huge advocate for doing some auditions in the fall so you have time to adjust your package if necessary. Unless you are a very unique type or very well prepared, I’m not sure I’d push for a top-choice fall audition.

I think some schools also offer fall acceptances for students who audition at moonifieds (with college audition coach). I have heard many stories about students auditioning at moonifieds and being done with college audition after that because they were accepted by their top school.

Has anyone heard anything back from Penn State? Do they respond to all applicants on a specified date (according to when the prescreen was submitted)?

@KAT67 I agree with soozievt I believe they field some offers but do more deferring. Scheduling is definitely challenging and should be done as soon as you can. I can tell you it doesn’t hurt to start in January and the auditions can fill up.

TXST sometimes makes 1-2 offers in the late fall but I know many students who got an offer that attended on TXST’s last audition day. TXST usually makes 17-18 offers to fill a class of 14 (the normal number). Depending on the year there is some movement on the wait list. Not sure anyone came off the wait list last year, but several did the year before.

@goldenslipper My daughter has yet to hear back from her pre-screeens at Penn State as well! She had an issue with uploading her dance video which may delay us but I think they do have specific dates deepening on if submitted before or after October 1st!

In looking at FDU’s website, it doesn’t mention needing to have applied to the school before auditioning. Anyone know if you’re able to audition before applying?

Do you mean FSU? Last year, you had to apply to audition. The only school I can remember that doesn’t make you apply to the university until after you pass the pre-screen is Otterbein. Most schools that don’t do pre-screens will let you audition without applying, but won’t give you a result until you apply. University of Utah will give you a conditional reply after auditioning if you have not applied. But, a lot of our list of schools stated we would be ineligible for freshman and department scholarships if we didn’t apply by a deadline, typically before January 1…you have to check the university and department admissions pages to know the rules for each.

Feeling stressed because I haven’t even filmed my prescreens yet! I’m planning on doing it Monday but it will probably take another week to select final videos, edit and submit them…worried I won’t get them submitted in time to schedule auditions for the dates that will work for me. My goal is to have them in by October 15th which felt early enough in the summer when I was planning but now I’m a little worried

@loribelle - thanks, but I meant FDU - Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Anyone have info on Auburn’s MT program?

@MThopeful99 We are in the same boat. We had on our timeline to have pre-screens done by the end of next weekend. But we haven’t had a chance to film yet (just settled on choreography) and it was suggested that D change her monologues. So now I don’t think our original goal is reachable. I am starting to worry a little myself if we will get them done in time for the slots we need. Luckily only a few of my D’s school list required pre-screens and none of her top 4 did. So she says if she doesn’t pass or get a slot then it wasn’t meant to be. Not as easy to say if your top choices or a large number of your list require pre-screens.

@goldenslipper We just heard from Penn State today.

@2019wolves good news??

@elledaspitzer No ?

I think you do have to apply first. We are auditioning on 10/19. We had to fill out app and then do MT supplement and request an audition date. Then we got an email confirm of audition.

We heard from Penn State as well. Not good news. On to the next.

We got a no from Penn as well.

No for us as well. D was fine knowing it was a reach school for her. Plenty more that want to see her, so she seemed okay with the news. Congrats to anyone that did pass the pre-screen for them though!

Hey all - We didn’t get past pre-screen for Penn last year but got through most others. They must have high threshold and are one of the few that take into account grades and test scores. So be glad they aren’t wasting your time and money later and move on - things will get better
