More fun with D this afternoon - big package from Ohio Northern was a redirect. “Next!” Small envelope from one of her top choices saying how excited they were… to invite her into the Arts Living and Learning Community… still no word on BFA. That one she asked why they are playing with her emotions?! (emails and snail mail encouraging enrollment about 2-3 times a week).
Meanwhile she’s packing so we can beat the snow and head out to Kent State tonight for an admitted students day tomorrow and audition on Saturday (last one!!).
Well, our disappointment from the Ithaca letter Tuesday was short lived. My S just got his call from Otterbein and he’s in - BFA MT!! Whew…2 down, 9 to go.
literally just got the phone call from Otterbein!!! I was accepted for acting but thrilled nonetheless. I’m assuming they’ll be making more calls later today for people who haven’t heard yet
DS got the email for Ball State saying no to MT, but instead Theatre Creation? Not sure what that is…maybe not even Acting. This is getting bad. Is it too late to apply to other schools? I told him he needs to apply to the schools where he did walk-ins in Chicago. What about others that we just didn’t have time to walk -in?
Heh, anyone else wishing they had looked at when a college notifies when deciding which schools to apply to? Apparently, we chose late ones as we are still waiting on 10. I’m patiently impatient.
So any one hear anything on Shenandoah??? I had seen in previous year threads that they usually had decisions made by the end of February. My blood pressure can’t take much more of this lol.
@PugsleyAddams - Here is a thread that was started about late auditions that might give you some helpful info:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/musical-theater-major/2122292-schools-to-apply-to-late-in-the-game-have-late-auditions.html
I know a few years ago @KaMaMom 's daughter didnt apply to Nebraska Wesleyan until late in the game and they have been thrilled with that school.
There are plenty of others mentioned in this thread also. If you have the funds, applying to some of the schools for which you’ve already done walk-ins may be a good idea. You might want to contact them first to express your continued interest and make sure they are still accepting applications.
Good luck to you!
@NewToThis13 That would be the one lesson I would strongly suggest. We would have done our Millikin audition with rolling acceptances the first available audition spot just to get a decision “in the books”, good or bad.
@PugsleyAddams The Theatre Creation Option is a BA option at BSU. It is a more general degree. They have a separate BFA in Acting. There is an opportunity to re-audition in the spring, but very few people jump from the BA to the BFA - maybe 3 or 4 depending on the year. Also, those kids may need to start over. Having said that, BSU is a wonderful program and the TCO’s (formerly Theatre Studies Option) can audition for the season and take some of the same classes. My older D is a senior MTO at BSU but her housemate is a TSO - if your S has any questions send me a message. We are huge BSU fans - great school, wonderful faculty, great value.
