The Class of 2023- sharing, venting, discussing! - MT

@NewToThis13 My daughter has received a re-direct from Viterbo. I can’t remember if that was Monday, or last weekend.

Anyone know when IU Bloomington notifies those who auditioned in February???

@krglaser I believe they’re sending emails next week but I am not certain

@MThopeful99 As a parent, I have to say I LOVE your attitude and your realistic view of this whole process. You’re probably more calm and sane than us parents on here and I appreciate your open minded look at your own future. My D has also had mixed acceptances. Some MT but a couple Acting which she hadn’t previously considered. In our opinion, a yes is a yes even if it’s not to what you originally intended. It’s not a shut door and is definitely worth pursuing and at least contacting the schools for information about their Acting vs MT programs and what kind of cross over there is. I applaud your very mature outlook. Best of luck to you.

@krglaser Someone said earlier in the week about now, but I’m not sure either.

@MThopefull99 what a great predicament to be in. Congrats! If you see yourself mainly doing musicals, then the BFA MT might be better suited for you. However if you see yourself doing film, tv, straight plays and musicals, you may consider the higher tier acting programs. Acting training is essential and needed to have longevity and versatility as a performer. I would connect with the students and find out how they historically cast. Look at old playbills and online bios to see. Speak to guidance and ask if you will have room to fit in extra dance and voice every semester. They are all great schools. You need to figure out the best fit!

@MThopefull99. When you go on auditions they don’t ask if you got a BFA MT or Acting. You already realize that getting into a school is not the end game. Go after the best training for your goals.

@MThopeful99 last year my son was accepted into all BFA MT except by one school. They redirected him to BFA acting. This school happens to be a top tier school and for that reason he chose to go the BFA Acting route. He doesn’t regret his decision for one second. There is crossover between Mt and Acting and he does private voice and will have dance next year. Just do all your research with each program and try to get all your questions answered. Good luck in making your decision!!

@workinggirl25 calls seem to be MT. They seem to be all girls so far. I don’t know of any boys yet.

Anyone got an email from Molloy/Cap 21 yet? *watches D refresh her email again

@CharacterShoes nothing here either from Molloy/Cap21

This week is insane.

D just got Molloy email

@CharacterShoes No CAP 21 email for us either.

@Anybodyhaveamap You’re not kidding!

@CharacterShoes and @BrennaK Not here either… the waiting, the waiting, the waiting…

D was waitlisted at Molloy CAP 21, which was a nice surprise. She couldn’t really read them and thought she wouldn’t get in.

For people who applied and got accepted to JMU early action, decisions are out (at least for us). No to MT. Yes to acting. My D was excited about both, so is thrilled

@artandtechmom JMU no for us too :frowning: She didn’t apply for Acting.

@artandtechmom go Dukes! Madison, James Madison. We are the Dukes of JMU…
