My hubby and I are heading to Disney World today— see ya kids! I’m excited to get away from the stress but worried she’ll get a decision while I’m gone too ??♀️ Parenting is a roller coaster. LOL
@afterp89 feeling the exact same way. I am just slightly worried about my daughter’s best friend getting in and my daughter not or vice versa. I know they will still be best friends but I think it will be hard for them to be happy for each other at least right at the time of decision.
@NoMTinMD - it would be tough, but they’ll be fine. My S and his girlfriend got the concurrent notification for their dream school at the same time 4 years ago. He got in and she didn’t. Her parents weren’t home and they were both here with me. She was devastated and he didn’t know what to do - he couldn’t celebrate. She did end up transferring in after a year (and they’re still together and about to graduate…), but it was really awkward for a little while.

Many of us here on this thread were in the same place as all of you last year. As hard as it may be, you’ve got to go the distance through the whole month of March. You’re still only one week in and tons of schools have not notified - there’s another huge shuffle toward the end of the month. It’s way too early to despair or second guess your every move in the application/audition process. Promise me, no despair until at least 3/23. At that point, you could freak out a little bit, but not really until midnight 3/31. And by then I bet you’ll all have some good options or can think about a gap year, etc. Hugs to all.

SCHOOL VISITS: I suggest you ask the department what is the best day to visit to see the key MT classes. My D discovered she really wanted to see MT labs or acting classes more than sit in on music theory or a textbook class…ask ahead so your student’s day is fruitful. Also, try to find out if there is a rehearsal or performance so you can also observe those. It’s hard to compare schools if you go on an “off” day.
One of the telltale signs for us was also how much personal attention we got when scheduling our visit and on the day of the visit.
