Does anyone know if there’s a Millikin accepted students group chat or FB/instagram anywhere? My D can’t find one and apparently kids are getting mad if you ask questions like that in Courtenay’s Break room because it’s insensitive to kids who haven’t gotten in. She’s not going to even try to ask ?
@frisbee3 try Millikin University SOTAD 2023 on Facebook.
@frisbee3 There is a group called “kickball change the world” onFB that she can join. It’s the group you join to talk specifically about school acceptances, so I think that is an acceptable place to ask about school specific groups. my D told me all about the drama on the break room page…it was a lot lol
Does anyone know if there’s a group for accepted Millikin students? FB, Snapchat, instagram, whatever? My D has been looking and can’t find one. Supposedly she’s seen kids get attitude for asking questions like that in Courtenay’s breakroom because it’s insensitive to kids who didn’t get in so she’s not asking there ?
@frisbee3 I think if the parents and kids want the schools to be sensitive in how they run their auditions and ultimately when and how they notify students, then I think it’s a good thing to remember that all of the other kids - and parents, for that matter - gave it their all in their auditions to get into their dream schools as well. So it seems to me that using the phrase “She has seen kids get attitude for asking” with a “laughing-so-hard-you’re-crying emoji” gives an impression that they are sore losers and you think it’s funny. I would bet it’s more that they are extremely disappointed. You never lose anything by being kind and understanding. And my D did not apply to Millikin so this isn’t personal to my D.
My D was accepted BFA MT at Millikin let me know and I can give you may daughters contact info. We are still waiting for one more decision but so far Millilin is 1st choice.
@BWmama, I honestly think @frisbee3 just meant that her daughter didn’t want to get “yelled at” on social media. I don’t think for a minute that she thinks the other kids are “sore loosers.” I don’t think there is a parent here who would think that considering we all know what this process takes.
@BWmama
Not what she meant at all. I know her she’s a great person. The fact that her child doesn’t want to upset anyone by asking a legit question should tell you that.
@BWmama - let me clarify as I don’t want anyone getting the wrong impression and the exact reason why social media is hard. The crying emoji was aimed at MY D. You don’t know my D but she in NO way would want anyone to feel bad. She in NO way thinks anyone is a loser for not getting into schools. She has been sweating this thing out and doesn’t have a list of acceptances. My putting that was more that I was thinking she was silly to think anyone would be mad at her for asking about a group. That she shouldn’t be that worried about it because I’m sure kids wouldn’t be that way and that was just a few kids experience. That SHE was over reacting. Sorry if the emoji gave the wrong impression. Only wishing luck to everyone’s kids. This is a BRUTAL process.
@NYKaren - Definitely not what was meant. Bad choice of emoji but meant for my D over reacting to a worry about making someone mad about asking a question. NOTHING to do with any judgement. She’s been struggling with this and we both feel horrible about nos and happy for yeses for everyone in to BRUTAL process. Sorry I made anyone upset and my D would be so
Upset anyone think that of her.
@frisbee3 exactly! I know your daughter just didn’t want to upset anyone. She would never think anyone is a sore looser.
Ah, the unleashed power of the misinterpreted emoji. I don’t think there was any offense to be taken at all from @frisbee3. It was a good question, and your daughter trying to be tactful on social media. The admins from Courtney’s break room say it is acceptable to ask re accepted student’s groups, but maybe more appropriate to ask on Kick Ball Change the World! 2023. The Millikin student accepted group exists and was posted by @cloud7or8
I love that my D has kept her sense of humor through this process. We have the March Madness tournament on TV and after observing which teams are playing today, she said, “Well, I think I root for the 3 schools I didn’t apply to.” (because she doesn’t want to root for those that rejected her) LOL!! She didn’t apply to quite that many schools, but it certainly feels like it!
im sure many of you saw this somewhere but , felt like this was a really good article to post at this time of the year…

RE SYRACUSE
Thank you! thank you! I reached out to my S today who in Mexico on spring break. I asked him if he would check his portal for Syracuse-hiis MySlice account to see if all of his financial forms were complete. It turns out that he had 3 different forms that needed to be resubmitted which were located under the to do list. If you are still waiting to hear from Syracuse, I suggest you take a moment to look into this. Thanks again for the information. Grateful beyond words.
@MD1235628 CONGRATS!!! My D was accepted to BFA Acting and we are visiting during our spring break - Can’t wait!
@BWmama Yes, it’s tough for those who didn’t get in, but she should feel comfortable reaching out to find others who were also accepted. It’s part of the journey and process for many of these kids to discuss the schools they’ve gotten accepted to, as well as rejections. Congrats to her - My D was accepted to the BFA Acting at Millikin.
There is a new post from Voice Teacher regarding April 1 deadlines instead of May 1st. Just an fyi for anyone who received a 4/1 deadline to commit.

@frog65. Wow just read that link on May 1st deadline. Wild West for sure. I just hope these hard working MT kids aren’t hurt by this in anyway. Wonder if any connection to Varsity Blues College Admissions scandal investigation.
@MTmama42 My D was accepted to Millikin BFA Acting also! She has MT offers, and we are still waiting to hear from one school, but my husband and I really like Millikin! D is torn…
@Tnkdd How exciting! My D is waiting for her first MT acceptance (fingers crossed), but Millikin’s BFA Acting is a great program to consider.
@collegeboundSam
What a beautiful engraving!!
