I invested in a children’s shoe business a while back. There were few things I learned. It is best for toddlers to go barefoot whenever possible and walking in the sand is best. When fitting shoes, there should be a thumb (width) between the toes and the tip of shoes. Leather shoes are best for kids because they breath better and kids’ feet tend to sweat a lot. If you live in a cold weather area, sneakers are not good for the winter because the material they use tend to transmit (conduct) cold more than leather.
I also love Hanna Andersson. I do stay away from stripes.
GD#3 arrived yesterday 5 days after her due date. S had texted late morning that they were at the hospital and things were good, but no idea when things would get serious. Well, they got serious very quickly a few hours later. DIL was in bathroom when she got an immense contraction and barely made it back to the bed for nurses to deliver the baby. They expect to go home today and I can’t wait to see how the 3 year old reacts to her baby sister. They live 15 hours from me, so I don’t expect to meet this new baby for quite awhile, but it’s going to be fun when we can all get together to see D’s baby, 7 months old yesterday, and S’s newest addition.
Congratulations, @2VU0609! let us know how the meet and greet goes!
As for shoes, barefoot is GS’s favorite state of being but it’s getting too cold here. And while his first shoes were of the soft leather variety, he’s a “big boy” now and he prefers his footwear to match mom and dad’s!
One of my former students is a fiber artist who, among many talents, crochets adorable stuffed animals. They aren’t cheap, as they are handmade, but they are so very cute! I ordered a triceratops, and it should be ready around Thanksgiving. I’ll make it my avatar when it arrives.
Had a delightful time with DD1/SIL/GD (2)/GS (1) - the Sketcher boy’s shoes from size 5 up were very much appreciated - he now has shoes that fit him now! Also DD appreciated that they are all machine washable. That has now saved her (and me) from scrambling to find him shoes for his growing feet. We had already taken care of his sister’s shoe needs. I also had purchased some sales and clearance items online from Kohl’s that are shipping to them - all size 3X for both kids for near future wear. GD is taking a bit after her mom on being slim side; at one time both my DDs were wearing the same size clothes (they are 25 months apart in age) when DD1 was ages 5/6 - but after 6X it changed. GS is active but takes after stockier dad. We may see them again on a quick time in Nov. Then we will see about Dec, as they have travel plans at end of year (in addition to a wedding the weekend before Thanksgiving). H and I will be alone for Thanksgiving, which is fine - we are fortunate to see ‘the kids’ often during the year. Last year for Christmas H and I were alone but had a big Thanksgiving family celebration.
Our areas (DD1, DD2 and mine - In AL in 3 of the largest cities, DD1 in the largest city) continues to have low new Covid rates as people are wearing masks, social distancing, and some people have learned about getting Covid from family gatherings that include people who have been in Covid contact and asymptomatic but spreading it…not careful with family members and close friends…
DD1 and I are both in medical facilities (DD in hospital with unit that has all the non-ICU Covid patients; I am in skilled care/rehab facility that manages Covid well).
Prayers for all your families to stay Covid neg, or mild or no medical concerns if one does get Covid.
This is funny. When D1/SIL visited with GD a month ago I found in her closest a talking Elmo that she thought was cool as a teenager.
Well, when we do google talk with GD (12 mo old) now, I have Elmo with me and he runs across the camera, jumps, talks, waves, and I play where’s Elmo. It really catches her attention.
I love buying dgs clothes. He loves his Freebirdies sleepers! I got the whole family pjs from there for Christmas! They quality has been awesome. They also love his Squid Socks! Other than that he has mainly Carters. (He is almost 8 mos old).
They can’t afford anything so everything he has was a gift or hand me down (which there are only a few of).
? @2VU0609, Congratulations! Welcome, Sweet Baby Girl! ?
I hope you get to hold her soon.
Unfortunately, as COVID rates rise, D and SIL work more hours, taking care of many sick people. I am worried for them, but H and I feel lucky to get to spend extra time with GS and GD.
My mom sang ‘You are my sunshine, my only sunshine…’ to us and to the grandkids while rocking. I sang it to our kids and now sing it to our grandkids.
Just saw this thread today. When it was started I had none. Now I have 4 with another on the way. This last one on the way is special in that daughter #2 has been unable conceive for some years (she was the first one married) and now she will be able to join her brother and sister in being a parent. So blessed.
