I agree that everyone is very respectful and very polite in this show which I like.
I don’t miss the drama. Hell’s Kitchen --that’s a different story.
I watch Masterchef which is somewhere in the middle.
I can’t watch Hell’s Kitchen. It stresses me out with all the yelling. How is that entertaining?
@doschicos I agree. I can’t stand Hell’s Kitchen either. That is the opposite extreme in contrast to the politeness of the British Baking show. I think the American version of this baking show was fine but I like the British version much more.
The contestants of the British baking show are more talented.
For us the show does not come on tv till 7pm Sunday but I was able to find todays episode on youtube.
Todays episode was on Breads and the showstoppers were amazing.

Apparently episode 4 Desserts is online too but I haven’t watched it yet.

Two episodes- 3 & 4- on PBS tonight. Interesting to note differences between US and British including measuring methods, what constitutes a good bread/cheesecake and others. I’m so used to purely volumes. I think of non yeast breads differently and certainly there are different types of cheesecakes (and their crusts). Interesting to have baking done outdoors- where temperature and humidity can’t be controlled.
I can’t find the show on PBS, but I watched all 3 episodes on the iPad yesterday. Like everyone else, I so like Mary.
No favorites yet, though I do like the SAHD.
@bookworm Here is the link to the pbs site.

Episodes 3 and 4 are both on there. (breads and then desserts)

I think Ian, Tamal, and Nadiya are doing great.
They are all good.
Here is some background on the bakers.

Tamal is a doctor.
It’s hard to pick a favorite. I like them all. Sandy brought a lot of humor to the show. She was a hoot.
I agree all the bakers personalities make the show most interesting. The best part is that it is drama free and at times funny.
I signed up for PBS shows. I wish they didn’t keep asking for donations. I’ll watch 4 tonight.
This show is the perfect anecdote to my daily life.
If you don’t want to wait to watch it on PBS I believe the whole season was posted on youtube a few weeks ago by Kara Shallenberg. I didn’t post the direct links but you can search these as I plan to watch one episode every week.
I don’t want to know who the winner is so I am not planning to get ahead. There are also some master classes posted as well as old seasons of the show.
I don’t know if it will get removed eventually but it is available at this time. For me it comes on WETA at 7pm on Sundays on tv.

The Great British Bakeoff SO6E10 The Final
Just finished the bread episode. I am a finicky eater and often don’t like all the ingredients they use, but for the first time I would have eaten every morsel they baked and wish I could have them deliver recreations to my dining room. That may have been my favorite episode from all three seasons we’ve gotten here in the US.
I wonder what they do with all the food they make. Have a big party after the taping of the show?
Alvin alone made enough bread for everybody. I liked how everyone’s breads were displayed.
The lion, bicycle, and flower vase were interesting. I also liked Nadiya’s snake in a basket theme.
I love this show also! All the contestants are so darn likeable, as are the hosts (except maybe Paul sometimes).
My wife and I were laughing with the contestant who is the prison warden (or whatever they call it in the UK), thinking about the scene if Paul Hollywood, after trashing the guy’s baking, ended up as a prisoner at that jail lol.
What amazes me is the creativity they all show, I loved the lion bread, and some of the other creations were just amazing (kind of liked the one made to look like a high fashion dress). The part that amazes me is the technical challenge, my mom loved to cook and bake, and she had recipes from her grandmothers that were likely similar, that don’t specify many details, having seen those recipes I don’t know how the heck they can bake something from that, but they do.
I have learned that what the participants do requires good time management, lots of creativity, and patience.
I think by the end of the season they will have completed 30 baking tasks. It seems like it is a passion they find relaxing and truly enjoy. It is interesting to read their background stories and how they came about their own interest in baking.
I watched the finale off my DVR on Sunday afternoon and immediately thought that I hope I don’t have to wait as long for a new season as I did for this one. Well, if only I could stream the UK BBC feed, my wish would come true. New season starts in the UK next week.
I have been watching the episodes online. On tv the show comes on at 7pm on Sundays.
The last episode I watched was Victorian.(episode 7)
I believe the episodes can also be found on youtube.
Haven’t watched the finale yet so I don’t know who the winner is. ( don’t want to know till I’ve watched al the episodes)
I heard that the winner will be judge for a future british bakeoff which will be focused on junior bakers. (children)
I just finished watching the final. All three were amazing. The ending was very emotional.
I loved these last words from the winner.
At the end of the contest’s finale, she declared: “I’m never going to put boundaries on myself ever again. I’m never going to say I can’t do it. I’m never going to say ‘maybe’. I’m never going to say ‘I don’t think I can’. I can and I will.”
Absolutely enjoyed this season (3). The winner is going to judge a children’s verson of this show in the future where there will be 10 episodes with two baking assignments in each.
I can think of one very prominent boundary that I wish she would divest herself of…something her husband apparently has no need of.
