@mrinal:tanx :)

How are the applications coming up ?

lol mrinal u REALLY want those 1000 posts dont you?
this is so dead. :P

Oh you don’t know how much I want that ! I am going to reply to every thread on CC :p

I am a bit lost on why a class of applicants moved to facebook. how are you all advising each other if your knowledge base is limited to those who have not been admitted anywhere?

We have the Class of 2016 with us there. Though yeah, smack some sense into them texaspg !
I need to be a senior member.

Once those 2016 kids hit college they wont be responding to anything on facebook or anywhere else.

I was looking forward to answering some questions here but if no one is here, how do i smack the sense! :p

We are already in that stage now
No one is responding. We are just 11 crazy 17’ers handling the app process all by ourselves.

I think facebook doesn’t give annonymity. I would rather use CC to get input from all over. If people are uncomfortable with specifics, that can be discussed as a PM. Also I appreciate the parents input or folks who suddenly turn up (2015’ers etc) to give their wisdom.

One can only share info and help those who want or ask for it, looks like the ones on facebook do not need any. So kudos to them, and all others are welcome to post their queries here. Happy to help.

Wow TiT 21 has grown incredibly long!

so i have a question about the peer evaluations:
how do i invite the person who’s writing my evaluation on the commonapp?
i know how it works with teachers, but im lost regarding how to do it with a peer.

Hey 15, 16ers and parents.
Yes, I agree with you guys.
We have made that Facebook group, but have no suggestions/help coming to us whatsoever. We are like, doing everything based on what we know.
It’s stupid and naive, yes.

I was and will be regular on CC rather than on fb-CC-group.
Also, yes, we have now reached that stage when the 16ers are busy with their colleges and respond no more.
So.

Also, can you guys tell me/ suggest me how you all handled all the boards+standardized tests+ collegeapps together?
It’s like, these 3 months are so hectic and there’s nervous breakdown sometimes.

Also, guys, essays?
What do you think should one complete them by? August end? September? When?

Essays- definitely should have brainstormed and written the first draft in the summer holidays. Because the essay will have to be rewritten and edited and proofread a few times before it is ready for submission. Also your college list will show how many essays are required apart from the Commonapp essay.

Come November all 12th graders will be busy with first semester/half-yearly exams. Only those who are applying RD only will get some time during the December vacations to wrap up the essays. The ones applying ED should finish everything by October.

hey all.
can you please comment on the autheticity of this need-blind list of colleges compared to wikipedias list of need-blinds?

[Need Blind Admissions for International Applicants to US Colleges](http://www.universitylanguage.com/blog/20/need-blind-admissions/)

rew2402.
I think Williams and Middlebury are mostly need blind but need aware for what they consider ‘borderline’ applicants.

Middlebury went need aware for internationals. Though, they are need blind as long as they have funds available. After a certain limit, they start reviewing applications as need aware. :)

Getting a fully funded education as an International (especially Indian or Chinese) for undergrad is quite hard. It essentially limits you to certain colleges and as you may have noticed, those colleges limit the number of admissions for each country since they want a diverse pool. Essentially, one is hoping for a lottery level luck.

An example is that MIT is need blind but limit the number of seats for internationals to 100 and from past history, about 5-8 students come from India each year. Since similar rules apply to Harvard/Princeton/Yale where they are essentially accepting 10% as true internationals and India may get 0.5 to 1.0% of the overall seats at each of these schools.

If the goal is an American education, it is best to diversify your applicatons and look into schools that offer scholarships to internationals that is not considered aid. I understand Duke has some and Rice also provides full tuition scholarships. A parent from 2016 mentioned receiving a huge scholarship from WPI for his daughter. These scholarships are usually available mainly from private schools so people have to apply to find out.

What that means in the end is that you may be required to come up with 1/4 to 1/2 of the costs somehow to make this work.

bump about the peer evals?

You need a peer evaluation too ?
