Okay. So, Here are the score for a timed test. 106/120. Good enough practice done? What do y’all say? @SahilC Thanks, man. Idk about online help though. Thought someone on CC would help. :D

@akd 2160? Awesome man! Nice job.

I think USC doesn’t accept applications specifically for spring intake. They admit those students who applied for fall but were not accepted then. There are a few (maybe more!) colleges which follow the same procedure as USC.

Except Berkeley and Merced, the rest of the University of California system accepts spring intakes. I’m not sure though. They might have stopped admitting freshman in spring due to low funds.

Probably Purdue and UMichigan offer winter intake. But you know, the best thing to do is to build your resume in these six months and then apply for the next fall!

Wrote the TOEFL. Muahahaha. Very nice experience. :D

Usually, if you plan to do well in college and hope for some scholarship offers, you might want to have that SAT above 1800. While SAT has no bearing on how you perform in the actual college lvl course, it does to some extent has its benefits when you might want to widen your selection.
I have seen many intl students elsewhere who do not score well but still get admitted to not as selective schools. In the future, if they plan to do GRE, they might have an extremely hard time grasping reading. I would say that try to get the SAT up no matter the caliber of your entering intl class. It will serve you well. Something you might want to stop doing also is comparing your performance to your peers. When you get to college, you will have to decide between success and no success. Just because a classmate is doing poorly and thinks he can get by on a curve in a class, does not mean that you should start being that way as well. You might just find out that the class will not be curved in the end and you’re stuck with the grade.
Lesson here: many doors can open if you do your own best…not relatively best.

Moderator’s note: I merged several threads since these are common questions this early in the game and everyone benefits from knowing the answers.

Hey guys - for example, if I get into SUNY Stony Brook, and the On campus fees (for a US citizen) is 30 K

Roughly how much do you get in scholarship?

^Nobody can answer you here on CC!

There are only some schools which issue scholarships for international students. Most state schools don’t do so for undergraduate students.

@hoping - sorry, I didn’t understand. You’re saying you won’t know?

@texas - as far as I know, for admissions I count as a citizen. I would be applicable for scholarship then, right?

You’re saying that international students don’t get scholarships? :o

Sorry, did not realize you are a citizen.

However, State schools still treat non-residents equally badly unless they have openly specified scholarships. For example, if you applied to University of Alabama, they have specified scholarships based on GPA and SAT/ACT scores.

I don’t see any specified amounts for non-residents.

[Stony Brook University](http://www.stonybrook.edu/finaid/programs/freshmanmeritbasedscholarships.shtml)

I thought that a '17er was supposed to start TiT 22 ?

^Yes that’s the tradition followed till the last year. This year, the 18’ers took it into their hands.

@SahilC Wow! You are a US citizen. That will help you.

In my previous post, I meant nobody can tell you the amount of scholarship you will be offered.

Yep, I am!

Yeah, I get what you mean!
But any general estimate? 500 dollars? A thousand? Ten? : p

Did you see the link I posted? If you are from New York there is some predictability but if not, it is whatever they decide to give.

There are schools that do give you a scholarship based on your GPA and SAT/ACT score. Stony Brook is not one of them for a non-resident.

I guess there are student loans too, right? Just asking. And yeah, @texaspg is it ok post link to website? :D

Alright thanks! :D
