The Indian Thread (TiT) # 14

I think that being in touch with the admissions office helps a lot, at least it helped me. The trick is that once you get the email address of an admission officer, you can easily maintain a steady contact with him/her and thus show you increased interest. According to me, being in touch with the admissions office is the most under-rated application aspect. So, if you can and have the time, i would recommmend you to build a 'relationship' with an admission officer of your top choices.</p>

contact them abt what but

whatever queries u may ever have … the sensible ones which would require official answers and case specific situations. Also people may contact in for some specific info about something the university offers …

It does help at universities which already display the assigned officer to International countries like India. But several in fact most of the universities dont this data for internationals and thus contact ends with no fruits. Yet if u do come to know who Ur regions admission officer is, you may maintain a contact with him on his email id , which definitely helps. And yes i repeat this only works for select few universities.

This is particularly helpful at UK Universities like York. I dont have any idea about the US ones though…

I didn’t mail the adcoms much…so I don’t think it matters really.

saatvik that helped!! i thought i was done with the admission process…and then this “contact adcoms” thing destroyed all the peace that i was living in!!..but now i think i can go back to my “ignorent about everything” self again!!

adides got in because of his solid application :stuck_out_tongue:
personal contact matters about 0.002% in my opinion.

but in some cases u can make the personal contact count …rare ones though

i haven’t heard at all from carnegie mellon till now…although the common app site says that they uploaded my app on the 28th dec…but still no confirmation from their side…do all the other common app colleges take so much time??

i just noticed saatvik u have ur invisible options turned on … when i had that feature turned on peope really got tweeky and askd me desperately to get it off…

SM

those rare cases are actually the luckiest ones…when u develop a knack of contacting the same adcom again n again!!..and it gets even better when your app is under the same adcom!!

yes and the best moment is when u know that the effort u ladid was a success … to actually be able to turn that 0.002 % into among the positive causes of ur acceptance is a strangely ecstatic feeling…

oh i just noticed that this post of mine would be the 500th post at the TiT ( 09ers had pretty much more though, yet i never wud wanna compete)…huff long time… :):):)

haha thats the spirit man … wait till end of january for any panic…

At the jan end time… u will be notified of all required stuff missing in your application and what all has been recieved…

at this point of time… u will be given a chance to complete your applications without any affect on your status and chances … U will be given abt few days to resend anything missing and complete…

THe review process doesnt start off until February mid …

SO be cool
