i havent heard from CMU yet too…the common app site said that my app and supp app have been submitted. and my transcript and COF that i sent via DHL have also been delivered…damned CMU Admissions office…

dexter,

all three schools are excellent for engg. i would pick one depending on the major. for ex: for Biomed Engg. i would pick GaTech cuz its ranked higher than both UMich and UIUC…but for Civil Engg. UIUC is ranked higher…as far as general UG engg ranking goes, i think UIUC is 5th, GaTech 6th and UMich 7th. GaTech seems to be less expensive than the other too and the cost of living in atlanta is less than Ann Arbor and Urbana…and GaTech also has the Co-Ops program which is very beneficial if you want to gain work experience and some money…so all in all if i had to pick one…it would be GaTech…

i dunno why these guys are slow…they havent even mailed me my CMU id so that i can check my app status…a weird way to stand out from the rest i think!!

hey taj thanx a lot for that…honestly i didn’t know that GaTech has co-ops…those will be quite helpful then i think…anyways i am going to pursue Comp Engineering…the rankings of these colleges are so close to each other that i couldn’t really make out which one was the best…it all comes down then to the cost, campus/student life and extra curricular activities they have to offer…also i have heard that GaTech has one of the most rigorous curriculum?? is it true??

yes, the profs at GaTech have very rigorous classes…however it is still a great school and that factor shouldnt discourage you from enrolling at GaTech. as far as Campus life/ Extra curricular goes well i’ve heard GaTech has got a lot of Indians who are american citizens and the school itself isnt that bad…they used to have a decent basketball team but they’re not too good rite now. i’m not sure about UMich but I know the Wolverines are the best college football (american) team and football is a huge craze at UMich… well, about UIUC i dont really know much about the campus life etc…

i have a friend who got into GaTech 4 years ago and he did the Co-ops program and got a job with G.E. he said he made pretty good money…also the Co-ops program helps u get a job rite after graduating…my friend got a full time job with G.E. immediately after graduating…so yea the Co-Ops program is very helpful…oh and GaTech’s co-ops program is ranked 2nd in the nation…

have any of u appiled to any of:
MIT, Upenn, Carnegie, Stanford, UCB, UCLA, UC Davis, Cornell
received any confirmation that ur materials have reached? If yes, when did u send them?

“i havent heard from CMU yet too…the common app site said that my app and supp app have been submitted. and my transcript and COF that i sent via DHL have also been delivered…damned CMU Admissions office”

I thought they were pretty nice people.
They sent a knarly CD as well!

Dexter-I was talking about the cmu.edu/admissions site.

dexter i agree with taj… gatechs great…
the co-op gaurantees work after u graduate…
n its not all “nerdy” as ppl think it is…my friends there n hes having a blast…

yes dexter co-ops are during college…my friend did a whole semester of college and the following semester did the co-ops…

yes the trojans are good at football… so are the Sooners…but u gotta agree that the wolverines are a pimpin’ team too… also, UMich has one of the largest football stadiums…and u’ll have a blast tailgatin’ with ur friends before the games start…^_^

well…weather wise Michigan is not the best place as it gets really cold in the winter…atlanta isnt too bad and i’m not sure bout urbana…

another aspect is that GaTech is close to downtown atlanta which is a big city and an international hub…it depends if u prefer big city life…cost wise GaTech is less expensive and also u can earn money doing co-ops…GaTech is the best bang for the buck!
