yeah well…to all who were shocked by my statement…well its the truth whether you like it or not. The foreign education has always been the game of the rich…and there are pretty few univs that really care about the people they admit…Now in no way did i say that the guys admitted to PENN are not good…I mean u have to have some class if u are taken in an ivy…but then in the case of UPENN expecially Wharton…one’s big bucks rule the deal…and I know of people with like 70’s in boards and like 600’s in SAT II’s with almost no big achievements get in…so please dont tell me to look up to these guys…and once again I repeat paying and getting in does not impress me atleast for UPENN…not that the people who do get in are bad…but just that i have seen so many good applicants being rejected that i cant make myself admire someone who gets in just coz he can pay…

^^^ I didnt know people with such sad stats get into UPenn, forget about paying. That’s sad - out of the 7 people who applied to UPenn ED from my school, only one got in and 2 got rejected. - almost all had better stats than me.

Dude u shouldnt fret about anything…i mean you are like into a totally awwesome school…and if u are gonna do Engineering you’ll love Cornell.

well abt JHU thing ppl said… i have to explain sum things…

If u r admitted with finaid . u r certainly the cream of the crop at teh time of ADMISSION not a guarantee that wud succeed thereafter…

i don’t say that intelligent ppl aren’t born at rich houses but just say that the admission game has an commensurate high quality for finaid acceptances…

i say 4.5 minimum based on JJHU ( which i calculated and the Ivy admission data( all which i found) ,the data are lower than even JHu so that makes the odds even greater … thus more than 4.5

I have made no assumptions here…

SM

I’m not fretting. I’m just saying that it’s really unfair to those who deserve to go to Upenn.

actually dude we’d be a happy lot (the finaid needy)if we stopped thinking that there exists a money paying group that gets in as well. Just think that at Penn also there are only 5 seats a year for finaid like at princeton and compete for that…coz there are some things you can never change…

and as far as people thinking that intelligent people are not found in the group thats paying i think we should refer to this years dexter and taj and ctc2…all three of them are very good and have done pretty imressive stuff…

That’s sad… About stanford - the ambanis are on the stanford board right? ****! did they even complete their masters there? I think they were stanford dropouts. and i’ve heard this Ambani relative from our school donated$1million to get in last year.

Besides I’m also paying (full fees, that is)

The Ambanis…can you explain that…i am totally unaware of this…

That’s what I’ve heard - mukesh and anil were stanford dropouts. Try googling. You may find something. Also, you may be wondering - one thing all of us at dhirubhai ambani international school have in common is mutual hatred against reliance, the ambanis. Ironical, huh?

oh you are…yeah i think you did tell me that…when are you planning to go to Cornell…I think they have a program where you can like go before hand and see the campus and do some stuff ahead a month.

yeah very ironical…i admire Mukesh Ambani…he is a top notch businessman if i ever saw one…Anil Ambani is just a jackass though…

haha and dropouts… that takes in more explaining to do…

however donating millions wud certainly ensure the spot… no offence but i feel… THEY PAID… SO WELL. they gave admission,.,
its after all a bargain and a deal in admission game…

SM

"mukesh and anil were stanford dropouts’ I may be wrong though… maybe it’s just a rumour that circulates around our school. But there could be some truth to it.

Search for the word “dropout” in the following site:
http://venkatkrish.blogspot.com/2005/02/scoop-on-mukesh-ambani.html

That’s all I could find. Maybe it’s reliance propaganda like all the other **** they’ve crushed.

hmmm…just been thru the last few pages and it seems like the thread is goin on nicely!!..keep up guys!!..neways hows the board prep goin?? (sorry for sounding such a bore!!)

yeah there is a great possibility these are rumours like so many others floating in India…one of the most famous being that Bill Gates was a high school dropout and i spent half my life telling people that the guy got into Harvard @ssHoles…

btw I think the colleges also have to take like 10-20 people who donate coz see…it does not become much difference to their class but see with the millions they get they fund students like us who canot pay for their education…so in a way i dont blame them for this…

well … if u r suprised by the ambanis why arent u checking on to others…

well the fact vamprio stated comes to light again if u see where the kids of rich indian business houses go for their study …

max turn out at wharton MBA and oethrwise for UG also…many whartonites…and/or other gr8 US univs we admire…

SM

“THEY PAID… SO WELL. they gave admission,.,”

Not only that, the irony is that STANFORD DROPOUTS ARE ON THE STANFORD BOARD. - SERIOUSLY, imagine how much they must have payed.
