Isnt it interesting that we guys are like having better discussions to keep us glued to this screen now that the boards are here…or is it just that my life is always rotating the other way…

mr. musharraf IN US… and loads more in the world…

this is what i call executive college admisison…

If sumone has the capacity to pay a million dollars for a school to its development, he as well deserves sum favors back…Its really a situation noone can help… and will continue…unless ofcourse loads of schul become needblind to wards intels… too.

SM

“i spent half my life telling people that the guy got into Harvard @ssHoles…” wasnt he a Harvard dropout? I think I read an article stating that on Time quite some while back. I doubt he was a ‘dropout’. There’s a difference between the Ambanis and him. He’s smart (and generous).

“i admire Mukesh Ambani…he is a top notch businessman if i ever saw one” There’s so much bad **** going on - you’d be surprised if I told you.

hehe sorry for that!!..i was just tryin to fit in!! anyways u guys go on!!

“If sumone has the capacity to pay a million dollars for a school to its development, he as well deserves sum favors back…Its really a situation noone can help… and will continue…unless ofcourse loads of schul become needblind to wards intels… too.”

That’s absolutely true. And that’s the one good thing that came out of that. BUt having the ambanis on the stanford board just degrades Stanford’s name.

yeah I know about that…i dont like his policies but that does not mean that i shouldnt admire the mind which made reliance industries…
and yes gates was a harvard dropout(but not a high school) he dropped out because microsoft was getting to big to handle along with his college…so big difference there between him and ambani:)

its just a topic we have hit our time and head hard on for months… all searching and info and what we find in a nutshell. is

sats arent as important as u think …
HS record arent as imp as u think
ECs arent that Imp as we think
essays arent that imp as we think it to be
the whole application aint that imp as we think it to be

BUT ** yes Paying money to a college no matter in what form is as important and influential as we think**

SM

haha…MM i really like your outspoken comments about Ambani’s…seriously what are these guys doing to you people at DAIS

In fact, the existance of our school is a sham. Its all a conspiracy :)

also. … gates maybe was a harvard drop out … but then why dont we look in them as oethrwise…these guys didnt DROP OUT COZ THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO KEEP UP TO ACADEMICS… BUT BECAUSE THEY FOUND SUCCESS IN REAL LIFE … SUCCESS THEY WERE LOOKING FOR AT THE COLLEGE WAS with them already…

SM

^^^ PRECISELY. but only in Gate’s case. The Ambani’s were rich though. And I doubt they dropped out because they found success in real life. I mean - LOOK AT THEM. Some how mukesh got his MBA even though he dropped out. Hmm…

well… dont be sad MM… i agree to the fact that the establishment of the AMBANI schul was for a purpose much bigger and different than just the education stuff… and we all knw this…

But the fact remains… that wud always be there…well if u have got sum extra millions to spare wud u mind shelling it out on a univ and get a big name and education for ur kid… no matter whether he is dumb …smarrt or even qualified to get admission otherwise…

SM

yep…another stupid question or comment i find which people frequently told me during the admission process (and this answer to the comment was a thought in my head and Ben Jones the MIT adcomm spoke it out)…
People keep saying you know if you have like done some very good research or made some good stuff then you might get in…then some even say…“students are also benefitted if they make some patent stuff or something”…Now I always why the f would i need to go to college for if i can do all that myself…
and BJ said this “Well Shikhar we dont want you to make any stuff, not neccesarily atleast, thats why you are coming to MIT, and if u have made some stuff…forget college, you’re a genius just join research and live a life”

he deserves an MBA i think … not coz he did pass the trtaditional approached tests and stuff at University but coz he proved to the country his wits and mettle by running the Reliance successfully… so as welll was granted the MBA… which rightly ws supposed to mean

**MASTERS IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRTATION **
well… for other dropouts… who were after wards succesful i too have no explanation but when we discuss gates or ambanis we shud also keep in mind these facts…

SM

“well if u have got sum extra millions to spare wud u mind shelling it out on a univ and get a big name and education for ur kid… no matter whether he is dumb …smarrt or even qualified to get admission otherwise…”

My dad never did that. And I’m not asking him to. EVER.
And you may not agree with me, but I got my morals straight here. If I have a son, I will never bribe/pay/donate to get him in anywhere. TRUST ME ON THIS. Besides, I could use the nmoney on other useful stuff :D

Referring to Lakshya M, I agree with him 100%. I was just joking really. That TVS kid, Sudarshan, got 2250 SAT I, 800 IIC, 750Physics and solid boards. Parents needn’t pay for his admission, but sure, the family background definitely helps and pulls strings at Penn.

haha thats true to sum extent… but then if u have a solid passion in ur learning. u might as welll display sparks of rousing fire with the research and patents…

u show that u have greater capablitiy to succeed and ur interest isnt limited to the 500words of the essay…not coz u wanna show u already know what they wud teach…

SM

He hasnt done anything great. He’s just living off his dad’s hard work. (Ambani that is)

nope dude…the man is the brain behind Reliance Telecom the company that turned india’s future…before this i had never seen a vegetable vendor with a cellphone…
