The Indian Thread (TiT) # 14

well in all u said arjun u made a remarkable point that we all already know…

IIT and IIM == THE BEST IN INDIA…that’s what u repeated time and again…

and we say that that’s the only reason they are recognised globally… did anyone disagree on this… now… as of ur claim… we were debating on why IIT and IIM fail or lack on global scene… and even with the ranking( though highly bogus as already proved the times ones … ) MIT and Stanford are at No.2 … so well u stood there to revoke ur own claim of IIT’s superiority with respect to MIT or even Stanford … and that too was an engineering rankking… when looked at the overall university ranking IIT get far far behind to 46 while MIT remains in the top… as ever … isn’t that far enough of a proof to mean wht MIT is…

as of your claims for IIT success nobody disagreed on it again… IIT has extremely successful ppl globally… but there are institutes in the world with even more successful students and MIT ,Stanford and Harvard happens to be just few of them… u cite wikipedia as a source for IIT prowess then just even if by mistake stumble upon this.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MIT</a></p>

You ll have answers that itself are more than enough to get IIT down any day…

i say IIT is awesome very gud… but it is not the best as stated b4 … certainly not the best or in top when it comes to global institutes…

And as of IIM’s they dont even figure in these equations … they are still way behind when it comes to all the highlighting features…

also do read the list of MIT ppl . and professors at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Massachusetts_Institute_of_Technology_people</a>… and then tell me whether at all IT at present even compares to anything like this…

if u need more facts and data tell me. this is just a spoonful of what the WWW has in store ( btw WWW also invented by MIT student…:p)

SM

Sachit: Yes, seen them. Btw, have you seen Ronaldinho: Touch of God? That is absolutely brilliant.

Smartmind: I had only applied to Yale, P’Ton, D’Mouth, Stanford as an option after DU. So I’ll be getting all my decisions in bulk tomorrow!

wow…some heated debate going on, eh? haha…itz rather entertaining to read everyone’s arguments on certain issues…anyways, congrats to those who got in and good luck to those who are waiting for their results…

peace,

-tj

umm…no…do u have a link? maybe i have seen it but i didnt know the title of the video! see if you can give a link…

1) Unless i’m grossly mistaken, MIT had little to do witht the creation of the WWW.

2) U seem to be not getting what i’m hinting at…IIT Brain-power> MIT Brainpower… and frankly given that MITs endowment is 1000 times that od the IITs…what u stated is poop.

IIT’s brain-power is much more…u have to agree…why, my cousin’s at Princeton on a 70% aid and she DIDN’T EVEN GET THROUGH SCREENING! hah! ever heard of the good-old MIT joke:
Prof: Hey kid…why didn’t u go to The IIT at ur country.
Indian Kid: Because i didn’t get in sir.

And even MIT bows down to IIT…here’s why:
A kid at My school…if u know anyone at MIT ask arnd…his names Vijay Kumar…got rank 91 at IIT…he also applied to MIT…now MIT accepted him…but he rejected MIT…when MIT found the reason for his deniying MIT, they offered him 100% scholarship and boarding free…which doesn’t happen everyday…

be wary ppl, juventus are striongest when theyre underestimated !!

now i am doubly sure that juve are gonna go through , and i daresay, theyll do it in extra time . . .

and whose gonna score ? you guessed it : Treze-no-gay !! The guy who was invisible at highbury and will remain to be so for the whole of the 90 minutes at turin but will pop up with a goal or two when it counts.

juventus have a tendency of winning like that. but last night at highbury, they were outgunned i must say, by henry and co.

cesc fabregas = star.

but the old lady is gna go through no doubt. capello is the pastmaster at such situations.

will nedved and del piero be back for the next leg?

1.straight from the wikipedia page:

Other prominent current and former faculty and researchers include:

Hal Abelson — computer scientist
Tim Berners-Lee — inventor of the World Wide Web

2.IIT Brain-power> MIT Brainpower for some wary exceptions … in case u thikn without their awesome brainpower MIT has done all wonderful stuff which IIT never dreams of then god kws what…IIT JEE doesnt happen to be such a tough nut as u claim it to be… and i see the simplification of JEE to be a rational and more human approach by IIT in admission process to make it more worldy…

there is also another joke that goes arnd:

professor to frehsman:
What did you students do for the last 2 yrs before college?

MIT student:
I did research , plenty of tings to discover the world, ,followed the passion , learnt new innovative science, made excellet academics, developed as a person, enhanced communication skills, increased my EQ, and made college applications… . Oh i forgot i also gave standardised entrance tests

IIT students.:: hmmmmmmmmm… I studied for JEE sir …

Thats all to sum up the argument… and well if u feel this student did sumting better than awesum ur thought and stream of mind …

SM

"IIT students.:: hmmmmmmmmm… I studied for JEE sir … "

Comment: BULL-SH|T!!!

Many IITians are Intel Science Fair scholars…when i went for the year before last’s fair with my project on hybrid solar cells…i met a lot of guys, almost all of whom now are hoping for IITs…

remeber the Bishop Cotton kids who launched a rocket a yr back? they too are IIT

Reason why IIT doesn’t produce spectacular researchers: Bec research isn’t their forte…academics is! and thats why when an IITian and an MITian go for a job interview their looked upon equally (despite te fact that the IITian payed $40000less for education  )

“Many IITians are Intel Science Fair scholars”

while many are … but majority arent… at MIT its a sort of unofficial norm that everystudent is qualified spectacularly in 1 way or the other… and these stuff are ones they have pretty much mostly…

SM

really…
as far as i know…all KVPY scholars and NTSE scholars (being one myself should know  ) go to IIT

Booze for all you guys…party time!! I got into northwestern!!!

congratulations … surya… thats perfectly awesome…

SM

congrats! …

dude arjun…uve hit the nail right on the head…rank 91 eh…rank 91…its the JEE thats respected not IIT itself…yes its good but not to the ethereal levels that its projected too…the JEE is the toughest simply because of the population of the country…they cant have a paper that everyone maxes!therefore they need to make it tough…

as they say an IIT engineer gains all his knowledge by his 1st sem exams…lol…since he’s slogged his ass off for the best part or 2 years…not suprising…not suprising at all…

if its sooooooo good i wonder why there are virtually NO foreign applicants…

o and i forgot the quality of PR and communication and social skills one learns at IIT…wat with all the lalloo’s(not biharis but biharis with that mentality)…bhen c**d

1) Laloo didn’t even pass elementary school, leave alone IIT.

2) “not biharis but biharis with that mentality” — does that make sense to anyone???

======RANG DE BASANTI======

Roobaroo, can’t get it outta my head.

Suraj ko main,
nigal gaya…

P.S.: Arjun, my diagnosis is that you’re suffering from foot-in-mouth disease. Many Indians( politicians) suffer from it. May the Spaghetti Monster have mercy on you.

callthecops2, congratulations!!
where’s the booze?

Congrats callthecops2( why not 1 or 3…wh 2?)
