The Indian Thread (TiT) # 14

well i am sitting for the exam… i so no reason for not doing so…

Its like well fill in the ovals game…:D

SM

I might play the game in AIEEE…atleast there i wont have to sit for 10 damn hours…

heheh true man… well but … i want to really take my shot at the IIT JEE… lets see to atleast what all the hype over new changed pattern is…

SM

yeah,same here…more out of curiosity !

its already too late but best of luck to all who are scheduled to write this new So called reformatted IITJEE this year…

SM

what would you guys say to an indian-american (livin in the US) if he says he’s gonna write the IIT-JEE and wants to go to IIT?

There is a small number of seats available for Foreign applicants.
One way is to write the IIT-JEE
exam and the selection will be based on JEE-rank . SAT scores ( Physics/Chem/Math-IIC)
can also be submitted for consideration . (Min. score of 2000) .
As per current rules , the admission fee is different for Local and foreign applicants , with
higher fee for foreign applicants.

“what would you guys say to an indian-american (livin in the US) if he says he’s gonna write the IIT-JEE and wants to go to IIT?”

I would say: What an idiot.

lala, believe me u dont want to come to IIT,ur social life will head to negative infinity…

indians at IIT are actually engineers halfway thru the first year due to the amount they slog to get it…so i do think that foreign nationals wud suffer a bit in that regard…

i know its a bit late, but best of luck for iit!!!

seats for foreign students??? at IIT!!!

I dont think so. Not yet anyways. The IIT’s are still very much a national issue, and the Reds won’t really let them be open to foreigners. There might however be an NRI(Non Resident Indian) quota.

Anyways as of next year, they’ll be worthless. Mr. Arjun ‘Itchy palms’ Singh just announced 50% reservation for backward classes. This means that the level will drop dramatically. Someone needs to do a Rang De on Arjun’s arse.

yes there are seats for foreign students at IIT…because that helps them get some revenues…

Btw unless a foreigner is madly into science (aka has finished differential eqn’s ,is thinking abt taking multivar, has done calculus based physics on his own…in short is doing stuff waay above AP level) then prolly should think of giving JEE or even attending IIT. If u are not the above then 4 years at IIT will be hell to you…

oh wait…i was talking about NRI’s too

It would be great if one reads through the IIT JEE brochure to get to know the
various admission channels to IITs ( JEE ) .
Here is a summary :
Nationality / Residence / Admission Channel / fee

 1. Indian National / India resident / JEE / Std. fee
 2. Indian National / Abroad / DASA / Enhanced Rate( $ payment )
 3. Foreign / India or Abroad / DASA or JEE / Enahanced Rate

So Foreign Nationals can write JEE and get admission to IITs.

Like I mentioned, what’s the point anymore?

The point is if one does not know the process, one should not comment .
Instead of “I don’t think so” , THINK and cross check and then comment so that
the information is useful to anyone who is on this thread and is interested , and for others , it is just information .

Right, well I mentioned the word ‘think’ which emotes my uncertainty. I wished to comment because I wanted to help. Unless you’re saying that everytime someone asks a question, everyone else who would ordinarily want to help just stops posting and clears the thread for someone to trot along with info, I really don’t understand your holier than thou attitude.

Oh yeah, and what does thinking have to do with cross checking information. When I said I didn’t think so, I siad that based on what I knew from before.
If you were just implying that my knowledge is less than yours then why beat around the bush? Yes, your knowledge on the issue was clearly more than mine, so great! Go buy yourself a lollipop, and take some bonus points as well.

50% Reservation??? That ***** Should Die!!!

But does that mean that NRIs or foreign can come only by giving jee,for DASA was abolished in2003???
