There were 15 Indians students admitted to MIT last year.
the link is here >>>>> http://web.mit.edu/iso/www/stats/2004/country_degree_level.html

i believe tht list means there were 15 Indian undergrads at MIT in 2004-2005. not 15 freshmen!

they take around 100 intl freshmens every year. 15% of tht from a single country would be kinda unfair i think. moreover there must already be a large % of American Indians applying as US citizens or perm citizens as well.

Aaron, I think u r right…

Prachi Absolutely…BIG PROBLEM… if u go undecided.it is the worst part … u have to may be take a loan or some guarantee and after getting 1st year scholarship reduce it… if u go without proper finance at Consulate…chances are u will be rejected the VISA…

The fig cannot be the total as then the total students = 348/4 would be 86 student per year. which is not true…

U ppl forgot to note this :
Please note that the counts include international visiting, special, and exchange students for both the undergraduate and the graduate categories.
There are many istitutes which send exvhange students there.like NUS…may be some of them are indian …and others…
Just gueessing…
The pre.yr stats suggest only 3student per yr from india if your explanation are followed.then 3*3=9 …so it means 6 students were admitted in 2004…may be it is true…
Guess we can email the adcomm to get the details…

http://web.mit.edu/iso/www/stats/1998/country_degree_level.html see this.here a special column is added that says .special students… what is that…

guys i have a question.
can u name the top colleges that do not require the 2nd essay in the 500 word format which states why u wanna go to atht college with the ineterest of subject … *(like MIt requires only 250words on this)

just passing by…

4 undergrad admits in 2005 for MIT, and one indian from bangkok. I know them, cant be wrong. Definitely not 12 or 15. And considering the fact that three are NRIs (sort of), you can say they admitted only 2 bona-fide indians last year :P

I personally know one student who is a freshman now at MIT. He is from Patna. I will ask him about the no. of Indian students.

yeah ronty I know the fluky too. But that guy didn’t go…I think coz that’s what merc told me.

No, the guy ,whom I referred, is currently attending MIT

cool…ask the guy and get info… and anyways.it seems we are damn afetr no.of students at MIT…it is not such a gr8 issue after all… We know we have to get into the best…that is it.
