I’ve created a new thread “Gossip” under College Admissions. It’s meant for those who are mathematicians to the core, number theorists to be specific and love pondering over numbers at leisure. U discuss over a cup of coffee at a cafe, similarly discussions will revolve around and originate from thread counts and thread numbers and spiral into a full blown mathematical discourse.

I acknowledge that it’s not possible for non-math-geeks to appreciate the nuances of this beautiful domain. Hence it’ll be proper to have a better location for off-track musings.

No offences meant… Bas007

Great idea! Of course, I’m more of a phi/e/pi sort of person, so I’ll only pop in from time to time, but anything that provides a forum for you to post your ‘famous’ posts is a welcome idea. :D

3344…

but I wanted to bicker … !!

@Spacepirate: No offense but you kind assume my UIUC bias for everything even though I havent really said anything which glorifies my school. As far as rankings are concerned UIUC is highly ranked school in a decent number of departments as well, my example for Umich was for the reason that any idiot can see oh Michigan is rank 1/2 in undergrad business & top 5 in engineering which cornell is not, oh and UIUC ranks go take a look again , top 10 in almost all engineering , hands down the best Accounting and Actuarial program out there , top 5 in Psychology. l2read! Btw most kids drop out because they cant handle the difficulty of the program , not because OMG PROGRAM SUCKS!

And for the fact you threw in my personal bias for picking UIUC over Cornell again , well my top school was Michigan/CMU but couldnt afford it! Cornell has a wonderful policy of declaring your financial aid once you accept an admission offer , so thats kinda … meh! I just ended up at UIUC cuz of the allmighty $!

And finally , this was not a college A vs college B thread , our friend spacpirate has thrown the fact that I am from UIUC making it Cornell vs UIUC thread which is not. All I am saying is dont get brainwashed into the mindset of its an Ivy , value schools on different parameters other than tags, top publics offer an equal if not a better opportunity. Some of you get that , some of you clearly dont.

hiya all. :)

My holy goodness… the Supermoderator DELETED my thread within 5 mins and he called himself Dove of Peace…

hi lebellanina

Sure, sure, we get that. In fact I think most people on CC do get that, we’re definitely past the Ivies are the greatest idea. Sorry if it wasn’t a College A vs B post, guess I’ve just grown a bit edgy about meaningless posts lately. (Which is strange, I know, as most of my posts kind of, lack meaning :D)

Seriously though, we do accept, or at least I do accept that it’s ridiculous to lump 7 disparate schools into one category simply because they play varsity sports with each other. And with that penetrating observation, I’m off to rekindle my acquaintance with Shakespeare…

@ bas: CC Cafe would be more appropriate…

Your gossip thread

was removed. At best, it belonged in the Cafe, not the college information discussion board where you placed it.

However, your excessive bumping violated our TOS, so the post was removed, not moved to the cafe.

No more than one bump a day is allowed, and any bump should occur at least an hour or two after the original post.

Moderator DoveofPeace

pinku2002: can you give me a link to the engineering rankings that you are talking about?

does applying early to WPI help?

btw whats the cost of SAT? Rs 6000?

@spacepirate: US News !!

Daily Round-up: 72 posts :D

An Indian got to the high stages of American Idol :D

Indians Dominate!

His performance hasn’t been too impressive though.

Shrivats: There are 8 ivies, not 7.

Argh, I knew that! I hate typos, especially when you don’t notice them :)

I don’t exactly know how his performance has been, since i personally think that show is pointless, but nice to see that Indians are doing well in the arts too
