The Indian Thread (TiT) # 15

That’s not a crime at all… what is life without achieving great things? But you don’t sound so confident about not killing yourself…

Oh, we have a new member!

Why are we telling each other things we already know?

I already got into a college I absolutely LOVE :D. Oberlin.

My next decision might be Vassar, on the 23rd. Might. Judging by last year. (Arit, take note  )

sup guys ,

@MIT Rejects: Sad that you guys did not make it , but to be fair MIT admits very few Indians a year , its pretty amazing that 2 ppl from this thread made it (assuming indians from india). Most of you guys should be easy admits in CMU and Cornell , anything higher becomes exponentially harder (mostly cuz u are competing with exceptional candidates across India for like 2-5 spots ).

@MIT Admits: Congrats

Also , IMO Caltech and UCB are pretty much the hardest schools to get into from intl’s ,(btw my definition of Indian is Indian Passport + Indian High school!) . I think MIT and Stanford are easier to get in than them , (Usually MIT, Stanford have like 3-5 Admits from India , Caltech and UCB usually 0-1).

Don’t fret it folks , you all will be fine!!

Anyone waiting on Harvard, Yale??

Hey, you can’t just look at the thread once and judge us and think we’re all going to commit suicide if we get rejected. We like acting paranoid (we are paranoid, but not like it’s the end of our life). You’d know that if you read the thread from earlier. We’ve all been talking for ages, and we’ve settled into a kind of talk, which we’re comfortable with, and we all know what the others actually mean. Don’t lecture us :<

I’m waiting on Harvard and Yale, as are the twins and Lakshya.

@Lakshya: Hopefully thats the case , but a lot of people associate these results with their personal merit. The fact is that a lot more besides the application itself factors in an admission decision, so just because a person doesnt get in doesnt mean he/shes not deserving of an admit !

@ Fry: Whats your intended major??
also , which high school you from in India?

comp sc + creative writing. double major.

i’m in a high school where no one has ever applied to the US.

Hey sorry people… I am pretty nervous and excited myself… didn’t mean to take the tone of moral guardian…

apology accepted :)

I’m waiting on Cornell and Carnegie Mellon. Cornell, dare I say… seemed interested in me and contacted me for missing stuff… my only regret I may have been late there…

I’m not strictly an Indian by your definition (US Passport+Indian high school), but I identify totally with you guys. And yea, I’m an MIT reject.

Ahh Comp Sci…!! well that should definitely help your cause for Harvard/Yale assuming thats your 1st major, I am suprised you did not apply to any major tech schools. Im guessing you are more inclined to Creative Writing ?

or as in my case just doing a CS degree alongwith Psych to keep my family from withdrawing funding lol!

four more posts to 800…

Well yeah , US passport is a different ball game , CMU loves international students.
I was a pretty crappy applicant myself and made it through CMU-SCS and Cornell

no, i love both CS and writing.

i applied as a comp sc. + psych major to yale. yes, that’s one major. a single one.

I plan to take comp. sci + math, or comp. sci + finance.

You already got into CMU? I remember sending my Mid-Year Report late there, about Feb end… I hope I can still make it! Cornell was really late… aah I’ll wait and see. Congratulations on your acceptances.

I love the humanities. :D

CS + Psych Major , thats a pretty good idea , a Psych major is pretty lame by itself.

I personally am indifferent to CS , but I dont really like real world coding , obviously I learnt that after studying for 3 years and doing internships! yay for college!

i don’t have a midyear report :(
