@ TheOneCurlyFry

Congrats dude…wer else u got thru

congrats curly! the spamming concert worked :)

@Noldo: interesting :D

What a night! 5 rejections.

HYP was expected, Penn was expected as well considering I applied to their tougher programs. Cornell?? What’s up with them? I read they not only rejected me, they rejected all of you. Weird.

@Shrivats: Berkeley is a lot different than the rest of them. It’s BIG. I’ve heard(heard, read, whatever) that they focus more on graduates than undergraduates. And the student : faculty ratio isn’t too great either. If all these are not concerns for you - I would go with Berkeley.

Otherwise I would go : Duke > Rice > Berkeley > Penn

:D

EDIT: I just read, you got a scholarship at Berkeley. I’d say go with Berkeley. :D

guys do duke- you’ll get more bang for your buck here- Duke can offer a much better collegiate experience than all the other places.

In terms of size, Duke has a smaller student body than all the others- so there is much more undergraduate attention that you would receive compared to other schools.Plus, it is absolutely full of money- this year they have started this program where they’ll pay for everyone to do a term/summer of service anywhere in the world.
I used to be in engineering till last semester- and I have to say that the teaching is really excellent. I changed to econ personally coz I was more interested in the business world, but I still love and miss Pratt. Also, it is very easy and even encouraged to go outside your major and do a lot of interdisciplinary stuff. Double majoring is extremely easy too.
The biggest factor for Duke though is the student life. You will get the best world of both worlds- powerhouse Ivy-esque academia and powerhouse sports. I know this might not seem valuable to you now, but Duke does prepare you more to deal with the American way of life, which in the long run of things, might be better for you.

haha- hey twins- do you know Nayantara who goes to duke?
Also, did you apply for aid? If you do get aid, let them know about the regent scholars award and they’ll match that award in an effort to recruit you.

Thanks for that abduke. Any more info you might have, please let us know. I’m pretty confused at the moment.

I got into Cornell - just letting you know so that you don’t think Cornell is shutting down!

Got into Cornell too. as well as brown
But I’m going to HARVARD!!!
Yippeeeeeeeee!!!

Why do I suddenly feel so sleepy? (suppressing yawn)

Congrats guys!

Hey taemi… r u on facebk? we’ll be in the same town :)

Here’s my Ivy list so far

applied to 6 out of 8 colleges (not to yale and columbia)

HARVARD: Accepted ('coz of the interview. i spoke to the interviewer again and he said that healready knew that the i had got in even before the interview!!! So why couldn’t he just spare me the tension and tell me then?)

Cornell: Accepted…am surprised, i’d heard Cornell was tough to get into…

Princeton: Waitlisted

Dartmouth: Waitlisted

Brown: Accepted…WOAH!!! The PARTY college of the ivies has accepted me, a guy with two left feet who gets a migraine near strobe lights…guess they know i drink (in moderation) !!
;-)

Penn: Rejected

That’s a 50 % Ivy success rate!!!

Non-Ivy

JHU: Rejected

Chicago: Rejected

Kind of expected it, especially from JHU. I’d asked for an insanely large amt. of financial aid!!!

Williams & Swarthmore haven’t come out yet…like I care anymore!

And the best part is, i just about managed to fall into a certain income bracket that ensures that my family doesn’t have to contribute a penny to any kind of expenses at Harvard!!!

Ain’t life sweet … although just 24 hrs ago I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown!

And another good thing…51 to 52 % of harvard students are female!!!
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!

i kinda joined facebook long time back and then forgot abt my account…none of my friends are on facebook you see

Are you on orkut???

bas007: why don’t you give me your email id, or let me give you mine tessanoth@gmail.com

another random word…

Look forward to seeing you across the Charles river!!!

lakshya- feel free to ask me anything about Duke-

also, which school in Dubai do you go to? My roommate from freshman year went to Our Own, and I know kids here from Choueifat and American School wholl be happy to talk to you

Congratulations Taemi

btw am in kolkata too  so where is the party?

oh and from a while back, all the age limit thing is crap- i got accepted to both Duke and Cornell and I was 16 at the time I started living at Duke’s campus. i think that one is rule for universities in the UK

I went to the same school as your roommate. I basically wanted to know how Duke’s CS program compares with other colleges…

haha- its actually pretty good- for a change its not only populated by nerds like in other schools
Most people end up getting great jobs, either with techie firms or banking ones.

What are you other choices?Do you get aid?
Oh and do you my roommate?(He was head boy I think- Aneesh) - hes doing an ECE and CS double major.

@taemi: Only two ppl from TiT will be in Cambridge (MA) :)

yeah! u r already on facebk… u’d better get used to it… coz everyone… everyone uses it over there… :)

Yes, I know your roommate. You can tell him that Lakshya got Duke. He’d remember me. I didn’t get any aid. So, that’s not a factor.

After CS, I’d probably think of ECE or something related. With the exposure that I’ve got so far, can’t really think of anything else.

Exposure so far doesn’t really matter at Duke you know. You can take something completely different if you so choose.

What other schools are you deciding between?
