The Kevin Spacey Thread

Gross is an understatement. Just wow. What a predator.

That New Yorker article is an eye-opener. And people questioned why women didn’t come forward more… Stunning. So lost my respect for David Boies…

I lost my respect for David Boies too. What was his firm doing being involved in that cloak-and-dagger scheme to intimidate people? Disgraceful.

What Boies did was outrageous and I would not be surprised if he is technically in violation of an ethics rule or the attorneys code of professional conduct. He personally executed that contract and his firm paid Black Cube hundreds of thousands of dollars – obviously reimbursed by HW, but structured that way to ensure that it would be protected by attorney client privilege if these women ever accused him and there was a criminal prosecution.

What they undertook was not an investigation it was entrapment – people were hired to misrepresent who they were to get the trust of these women so they would talk. And they.secretly recorded the conversations. These things are illegal as far as I know. If Boies or his firm signed the contract and wrote the checks then Black Cube was his agent. And I bet if you dig deeper you will find much more than false identities and secretly recorded conversations – all of which he or his firm should be accountable for. What an incredibly stupid thing for a high profile attorney to get involved with.

It’s absolutely amazing the pressure put on women to keep these things quiet. I really hope this helps blow the lid off this whole sordid mess that women have been putting up with for too long. That article makes my temperature rise.

I am shocked at Boies’ actions. I thought he was supposed to be an outstandingly ethical individual.

This gets more depressing all the time.

I was thinking the same thing, @HarvestMoon1 - how does that mesh with the rules of ethics… Hmmm…

Never underestimate what someone will do for money, no matter who it will hurt.

The groups mentioned in that article - Kroll, Black Cube, and Psops, are alarmingly sophisticated in their information gathering. Romanian hackers, agents posing as journalists, a former Israeli officer posing as an event organizer to lure McGowan into a friendship - they must’ve been at this game a long time. I wonder how many other lives and careers have been ruined with these methods. I’m so glad McGowan and others are having some light shed on what they went through.

And Boies certainly has a lot to answer for to the New York Times as well. They were a client in other matters and yet he was attempting to interfere with their reporting on a story. That is a clear conflict of interests and I hope the NYT goes after him for it.

Why would he put his reputation and that of his firm on the line for the likes of HW? Not like he was hurting for clients.

Greed, power, greed, power…disgusting.

The NYT has ended its relationship with Boies.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5058727/Five-women-accuse-Roman-Polanski-sexual-assault.html

More accusations come out against Roman Polanski. Two were just 9 and 10 when they say Polanski molested them.

Why would Switzerland and France protect a pedophile by not extraditing him? Sickening.

France does not extradite its own citizens. The Swiss reason was decided in Swiss court. Not that either is right, but that’s the reason.

I think that Polanski has been cut a lot of slack because of the gruesome murder of his pregnant wife, Sharon Tate, by the Manson family.

Of course, at that time there was only the single accusation, and she was at least a teenager. And of course when she recently came out with her story she said she didn’t want him to be prosecuted. Two actual prepubescent children…that is likely to tip the balance.

There is an interesting article in the Hollywood Reporter about Hollywood lawyering up in the wake of upcoming allegations. Not only offenders are being accused, but their enablers - talent agents, executives, lawyers.

Just saw the mom’s presser.

^^ After reading that and all the other accounts, the gay community is right to keep its distance from this predator. There was no consent in that aggressive act.

The gay community has always kept its distance from Kevin Spacey because they thought he was a hypocrite and a fraud.

Charlie Sheen has finally been named as Corey Haim’s abuser. Another one who was preying on youngsters for far too long.

Disturbing on so many levels.
