The Lawrenceville School

Wow, okay I was seriously misinformed… by my brain.

Change of plans: We’re flying in on the 28th.

Wait… unless you want to live in a hotel for several days, don’t try to come too early either. If you don’t have a pre-season, regular check-in date I believe would be Sept 2nd.

I’m a “candidate” for soccer, so I think I’m going to have to fly in by then.

What is a “candidate?” Did you get invited by a coach? If so, it makes sense to fly in on the 28th, so you can shop a day before your move in.

Wait, for those of us who aren’t going to preseason, our registration day is the 3rd (or 4th if you’re a freshman). We can arrive on campus that day, right? Like we don’t have to arrive earlier or anything?

Has anyone gotten a preseason info email/letter yet?

I’m pretty sure a candidate is just a person who wants to try out for those sports, if the definition holds. It might be something completely different though, I’m not sure.

I might be wrong but I believe one has to be invited by coach/director/teacher to participate in pre-season… I think you should check with soccer coach before making travel arrangement.

Yeah, but preseason starts earlier than the candidate date.

I will check regardless.

I would caution you NOT to just show up for preseason at any school, w/o first getting an invitation/confirmation from the school.

At s1’s school, preseason is only for returning athletes and newly recruited athletes, not for new students wanting to try out for the team. Everyone else reports to school on the regular move in day.

Definitely** check w the school, first. **

It’s not labeled as preseason.

The key word here is “invited.” Unless you have an explicit invitation from coach, the school is not likely to let you move in several days in advance of Sept 3rd, the registration date for III-V formers. So like @GMTplus7‌ suggested, check with the school before booking your flight.

That is different from the schedule I’ve been viewing. I emailed the coach, he should get back to me soon.

I was under the impression that the date was for “candidates”.

EVERYONE in the school who’s not a returning player/ recruited athlete is a “candidate”

I’m not sure what calendar you’ve been seeing, but there’s one available from Lville home page. Here’s the latest calendar for 2014-15, linked from the home page:

Hey guys. Anybody knows when are you assigned a roommate?

Not sure. The Third Formers are usually singles, unless requested to be in a double.

*Note: Third Formers are usually singles if you’re a boy. If you’re a girl, I think it’s almost definitely (or definitely) a double.

Speaking from a boy’s point of view… So yeah.
