I have a couple ideas, but I feel like I’m making it wayyy too easy to figure out who I am, so I’m not going to share publicly. But if you want to chat PM me because I’ll totally talk about it privately.

You’ve got an hour drive round trip, plus the regular practice time, and the getting the boats out and back in. I hear it’s terrible if you have a busy schedule.

Wouldn’t time commitment be more or less the same regardless of sports? I mean, you may have a bit less “playing” time due to transportation back and forward and getting the boats ready, but you all end up spending the same amount of time–Wednesday and Saturday afternoons–for whatever sports you choose to participate.

But wait- I just looked it up and it says they row on Lake Mercer, which is only 10 minutes away from the school. I have a feeling whoever told you it was an hour there and back, @mrnephew, might’ve been exaggerating a tad. Though I’m sure it take a little longer than other sports.

Unless I’m wrong and they row on the other side of the lake farthest from the school and not the closer point, in which case I think it would be more like 20-30 minutes one way.

10 minutes? Maybe they were factoring in traffic? Or maybe their boathouse is located on the far side of the lake, because I asked about crew a lot, and I got the same answer, that it was a huge time commitment.

Lake Mercer is indeed only about 10-15 mins away from the Lville campus. However traffic on Rt 206 can sometimes a bit of a pain, so I can see this stretching into 20 minutes. Plus the time getting the boats on and off the water must take some time too.
