So, Game, why do you want to apply to Germany and Hong Kong when you have already been accepted to your so-called “first choice” college? (and you’re so exicted to be there as well!)

I’ve applied to UK. Got a conditional offer from University of Manchester (in two courses). Others are still pending. I’m also applying to Australia, their process is about to start. Australia is cheaper than UK and US but still, it would cost you roughly 15-25 lakhs an year. I wasn’t too keen about Aus, but my family was insisting a lot. So, I visited one of their Education Expos. It wasn’t really that bad!

Oh great…Manchester is nice man! And I am sure you’ll get into australia, cuz they guarantee admission into univesity of melbourne for engineering at BCC! The required grades for other courses are less!

I was thinking about applying to UMelbourne, bu then I changed my mind. The university recently changed its “aim” to compete with the Top-tier U.S. Universities and ended up with a disaster. Many of the professors left, students complained about the fee raise etc. So, eventually, its ranking dropped. So, now I’m thinking about University of Sydney. From the reviews and everything, it seems pretty cool. Plus, its got all the connections in Sydney, with all the big corporate firms. (My intended major is Economics/Finance!! :D)

About scholarships, there are only merit. The determing factor is academics, personality and Prolificacy Test score! ha ha!

ANU has scholarships. They say they will consider you for a scholarship if you have a 2330 SAT 1 or like 4 A’s at A-Levels (or maybe AS Level-not sure). ANU is the only place I am applying to in Australia. Other than that I’ve got 11 unis in the US, 2 in Canada (McGill and Queens) and 2 in UK (LSE and UCL).

@Flibb I applied to Swarthmore and Williams! And I loved writing the Williams supplemental essay. Anyone here applied to U Chicago?

@talha_adnan: Ever heard of the word “safeties”? In case I don’t get a visa or something unexpected befalls (the embassy is nuked, for instance), at least I’d be able to go abroad. And I am also greedy. The more scholarships you get the more you want. I want to win every damn scholarship I can in the places that I value to study at the unis I respect. Pretty crooked English, I know, but that’s that.

No ha hasn’t. His strategy is so illogical. Unless he plans on getting three visas at one time i dont see it working. if u get denied a visa, there isnt enough time to get another one before late august or early september

My I-20 will be here in a week so I’ll apply real early for visa to the States. It was ED I advantage - remember. As for Britain and the others, I can safely apply late because their visa procedure is real quick relatively speaking (takes around 2 weeks for the UK, or so I’ve heard).

Just in case… The US embassy says that your visa is “in process” till late september (I’m not just saying that, last year a guy from my school was actually given 2 semester breaks @ Trinity College just because his visa was taking SO long to process), and at the same time, you get into Jacobs 100% tuition off! What would you do? Turn the Gettysburg offer down?
