I’d rather trust my younger brother as president , i know for a fact that he wont loot the country.

no, i haven’t received the welcome booklet, and don’t worry you will receive it way before me cuz I got the acceptance letter in the post two weeks after you did.

BTW,which program are you in at?

And don’t lose hope yet Iúileb ![]()
Plus it all depends on how you do in college, not on the college reputation… and which grad school you go to!

@joiya550- Zardari has won the freakin lottery mate! 1.5 billion dollars per year!

Arts and Management. Ended up choosing Management since I’m still not sure if I want to do economics/finance or something along the lines of business strategy or marketing.

I got in for BA&SC (Arts+Science). Didn’t take the management route (although I wanted to) cuz of the B.Com instead of the BBA.

true about gradschool. I can’t find like a ranking of top feeder undergrad schools for law schools anywhere! Bryn Mawr claims to be ‘in the top 10’, but maybe they just wanted to look good.

I don’t think such a ranking exists, Iúileb! We once had a Grinnell student over here, somewhere in the 80s pages of this thread. He told us about ranking, particularly those of LACs. He said that, in reality, 20 and 120 on a ranking are pretty much the same. The Career prospect at both the institutions also might be the same.

Bryn Mawr is definitely a prestigous institute, considering its history, academics and everything. I definitely would have applied there, but due certain obvious reasons, I couldn’t! :D

I’m sure if you do good in Bryn Mawr, you’ll safely land into a great Law school!

I didn’t fuss about the rankings much, but now that I’m trying to figure out where to go…I mean there’re only Ivies and a couple of super competitive lacs left, so I’m not getting my hopes high. Eg Smith vs Bryn Mawr. Yeah, both womens’. Both have the concentration I’m interested in. Similar location. Similar FA offers. One ranked 13 - other 26 or so. Does this mean anything?

i ended up going to tufts over midd and bowdoin…

@nrmncpr
Haha yeah, my relatives in Pakistan really look down on a Bcom for some reason!

As far as I’m concerned its the same as a BA/Bsc in business or BBA.

@Iuileb & talha_adnan

Whosoever said rankings didnt matter is either unaware or mislead. College rankings every year affect the number of applications in the school and say alot about the school itself. However, you can’t solely depend on one ranking while making decision to select a college. I would say rankings of individual department are the most useful. For instance, Johns Hopkin University might not be in top 25 universities in the US but it has the #1 medical school in the world and is also ranked #1 in International Affairs program.

As far as Bryn Mawr as a feeder to law school is concerned; it definately is a good school and can get you into any top law school provided that you have 3.8+ gpa and 170+ LSAT.

13-26 does mean something but i wouldnt be concerned about the ranking too much in this case because Smith is more prestigious than Bryn Mawr-by far.

Good luck guys…Shoot me any questions in the inbox on anything related to the US undegrad, applying to law school or internships. I would love to help out!

@ hussain

Im really sorry to say but rankings dont count for ****. I got in the top 5 LAC colleges and i broke the top 20 for us national universities but I ended up going to Tufts. It doesnt really matter what ranked college you go to…all that matters is how you like the place where you ended up going to and how well you cope with the competition around you. I think you should think before you make a generalization again.

John Hopkins has the second best med school, after Harvard. Closely followed by WashU and UPenn.

Guys, does it matter that you attened an LAC or national university for undergrad when you’re trying to get admitted into some really high grad school? If yes, which one is given more priority?

@ Iuileb - I think you should examine every tiny bit of detail about the colleges. Look up stuff like neighbouring atmosphere, student body’s interaction with international students, the prestige, internship opportunities, how well your major is favoured in both colleges!

I’d recommend you get in touch with a currently enrolled student, and ask him all these questions.

Best of luck! :)

@everyone: I wasted 20mins for a NEW list but you guys sure are thankless. At the end of the day, it’s just a list - a improved and better one, IMO. We PAKs sure can’t accept change in any quarter, from national politics b/w PML and PPP to acceptance lists on CC. What the hell…I don’t care a sh**

You have to have a good GPA where ever you go and good recommendations from the professors who teach you in undergrad, ofcourse the college you go to matters, but your performance takes precedence

Okay very late in posting, but I got Waitlisted from Midd! How many Pakistani waitlists, may I ask?

^ khan91 and Karpov were both wait-listed too.

Quite a few. I got waitlisted from Midd, I think khan91 was too. And I think there was also someone else. Correct me if I’m wrong I’m not completely sure, except for my waitlist :p

Edit: Yeah i think it was Karpov
