The official Pakistani Thread for the class of 2013

@ naminator,

That was a really helpful link. :)

Great news! Congrats Flibb! Mind hunter! Vandit!n All the ivy people!

Congrats everyone… I’m sure you’re off to do great things!

@vandit_daboss : Congrats!

Feels happy that greens could be of help…better yet Game, the best at helping :)

@Everyone: Thanks a lot!

Oh and yes, I really hope I go here instead of LUMS…this place is just so much better, and if I get the scholarship, it would be the best!

Thanks!!!im ecstatic!!!plus 56 grand aid is like whoaaa!!!going to harvard instead of yale bcuz cambridge is slightly better than New Haven. hope u guys on waitlist get in columbia!!!

^ Congrats!! I’d like to know your stats!!

@ flibb and lailak : kudos to both of you…
sorry but i won’t be joining you at Harvard; i wanna pursue finance later on and i believe a Wharton undergrad exp.will be better than a concentration at H in econ…

My stats:
12 A’s in O Level
Straight A’s in AS Level
Appearing for 5 subjects this year

SAT 1: 2200
SAT 2: 2400

ECs:
they r pretty long and varied so I dont want to say…
Ive published my own book of poetry titled, “Spontaneous Expressions” available in bookstores

Work and community:(pretty good)
4 years part-time teaching at Educators Kasur Campus
3 months full-time teaching at an Islamic School, EPIC
interned at Fountain House, Lahore, The Early Years montessori

Recommendations from teachers who had known me for 5-7 years

strongest point: Prayers!!! have full faith in Allah and leave it to Him…He is the Best decider for you. Never think you got in because of yourself…you got in because Allah wanted it…seriously there is no point of these stats if God isnt by ur syd.

Just amazing stats!!! You must be an Angel :)

P.s. Must be another Guinness world record - so many Ivy acceptances

I loved the strongest point, it is totally awesome…we should remember this all the time!

And…anyone willing to help me with my LUMS SSE interview? =P
Its in 2 days, so leaving for Lahore today…any help is welcome :)

I love the finer details, so please bear with me

Any distinctions? Which subjects?

Can you give a break down of your SAT I component scores and SAT II subjects?

I’ll be buying this book soon ;)

Exactly.

@laikak
Hello,
where the whole institution is concerned, then perhaps yes…
But Yale wins fair and square when it comes to the Undergrad…
Think about it …

Sorry, I am late. But YALE it is for me =D

@ whenwillItend: Really? :eek: WOW! Congratulations! :)

I’m sure you must have been celebrating. ha ha!

Your stats are amazing LailaK! You really deserved it all. :)

@LailaK: Three to Yale, zero to Harvard. It’s time to introspect. Maybe Harvard isn’t all that great in everything and for everyone. After all, vandit_daboss isn’t rejecting Harvard for nothing. Think. Difficult decision, I agree, but when you’re at the Haert of the Matter, the fog will disappear. And a new h(e)aven will appear. Yale.

believe me, I am NOT amazing…no distinctions in O Levels although all my percentiles were above 95%. I had pure sciences, addmaths, business, commerce n eco as subjects. SAT 1 score was ok for an IVY… CR:700 W:720 M:780. s

my essays were about:

 1. My cultural identity, being a Muslim and growing up in Pakistan. And that my country is not just about suicide bombers and war but rather its a place with values, traditions and a regard for the family unit.

@Flibb: Good luck for the interview…just remember to tell them what YOU can contribute to their institute! and be confident and unintimidated by the LUMs people.
2. going to the mountain areas where we stayed with Pathan people during the past year.
@ Cenarius: I want to major in biomedical sciences n the programs r better at Harvard…but havent decided n i styll love YALE!!! so yeah im gonna take time…

@everyone…rejections cum first and its a really humbling experience…i was rejectd by MIT followed by Princeton…believe me i was shattered because I thought i wunt be able to get into the other IVY’s…but mash allah i did:-)

@ LailaK… Congrats mashalah… so happy for you. I graduated from Princeton last year and, as you said, faith in God is the most important element… it keeps you grounded and pulls you through rough times. Make the most of your four years at Harvard :)
