The official Pakistani Thread for the class of 2015

I got interviewed by MIT(personal) and Princeton (Skype)

But remember they’ll account for daylight savings as well so it maybe 3pm PDT or 4pm PDT.
@Kimathi — you got into MIT, that’s quite an achievement!

Hi Kimathi! Lol, no you’re not intruding. Where are you from and where have you applied? :)

Lol, yeah I’ve heard the same about Stanford’s notification date. [and I haven’t even applied.]

Freako, just as you’re dying to hear from Stanford, I’m dying to hear from Amherst. God, I wish I had applied ED. :(

apparently we can see if we got admitted into UC Berkeley by doing this…
check this out…
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-berkeley/1106936-berkeley-admissions-released-early.html?highlight=berkeley</a></p>

and yeah, I got “rejected” after this lol :D

soo, apart from me, did anyone from here apply to UCB??

^^ I posted that yesterday just before it was taken down.

I doubt you were rejected. Just wait for the Official notification. That directory wasn’t official.

P.S: How did you change your screen-name? :O

Hey guys! I’m from Kenya and in response to the question about where I have applied, quite simply EVERYWHERE! Well in UK I applied into Imperial, UCL, Manchester, Sheffield and Aston, In Canada, UBC, In US MIT, Stanford, All Ivy’s but Brown, Tufts, JHU, WUSTL, and a couple of LACs.

TBH, I didn’t expect to get into MIT. I was pleasantly surprised! :D

@kimathi — I was about to ask the same question as pakipower, mine you have lots of colleges on your list.

P.S. - You’re not intruding :D

And I’m not sure but I believe that if your stats are bit say average, your essay can be a crucial point for your admissions into the Ivies.

Congratulations on MIT, Kimathi! I’m sure now you’re just looking forward to HYPS?

Haha, and that’s still not a lot of applications. We have users who applied to over 40 colleges. I applied to 14 and, until coming here, I thought that was a lot. It’s good for internationals to apply to more colleges since the admissions process is so much more uncertain for us.

I wish I could apply to more than 7 colleges. Sometimes your financial standing can be a really big pain in the arse.

^ There are fee-waivers, Murtaza. I’m sure the guy who applied to 40 didn’t pay for all of them - that would just be insane lol. I didn’t know about fee-waivers either, so I had to pay for all 14. Sucks.

Well I don’t really care for Yale! I only applied after being deferred by Stanford because I was quite under the dumps! So I’m really only waiting for Stanford, Harvard and Princeton! :)

What about you guys. I noticed pakipower really wanted Amherst! What about you murtaza101?

For me, it was that I was ineligible to apply for fee-waivers (since I was now a high school graduate at the time of applying). I did send fee waivers (not the NACAC ones, but the counselor forms) for most of my choices, but I didn’t had waivers for SAT and TOEFL or for sending the documents, so the actual cost could’ve been a lot for me.
And my parents are bit conservative in money matters, so they discourage me for spending and stuff, it sucks. :/

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-12820645</a> This is bad.

Same was the problem with me… I applied to 14 colleges worldwide and paid for 12 of them (damn :frowning: )
financial constraints can kill
@ paki… I just changed it lol  :p

^^ Murtaza, I think those new visa rules apply only to students admitted to ‘bogus’ colleges. Everyone else, and especially those in the Russell Group, should be fine.

@kimathi – I literally wanted MIT, but you have to be prepared when things don’t go by your way. So now I’ll go for my second choice, Princeton! I have to say that I had a great time with my interviewer, that’s where I actually liked Princeton. My third choice would be Cornell though.
Stanford is great, but I don’t just feel it to be a good choice for me. I’m hoping to be somewhere in the Eastern part of the US, since I’ve my aunt and even my brother has applied to schools which are all towards the East Coast, so even if I do get into Stanford, I’ll be all up by myself.

i am waiting on Amherst too and I so love the school…
But i love almost all the schools I applied to haha

^ Yeah, there’s no school like Amherst! :D

I hope we both get in. :)

Good luck to Amherst hopefuls here, when will you guys get your Amherst decisions?

No official word on release of decisions yet. But most probably around the 25th.
