Just watched The Hurt Locker for the first time. That is a great movie. Anyway, for some reason I just had to check CC before heading to bed. Night you crazy insomniacs…if any of you are up lol.

Anyone here applying for UC Berkeley Haas? I’m a current high school senior looking into community colleges and I’m wondering if it’s impossible to transfer in… haha.

I want to see The Hurt Locker! I’ve been meaning to pick it up.

Reno: Possible, but the chances of getting Haas through transfer is like getting into Stanford through transfer: not very likely.

^ Wrong. Getting into Haas is difficult, but it’s certainly attainable. You have to have about a 3.7 GPA with all prereqs done…I emphasize strongly “ALL prereqs done”. Most that apply do not have all of them done, and consequently they’re immediately rejected. Due to this, the admit rate is extremely low and also fairly misleading.

Going from a CCC -> Haas is tough, but you could definitely do it.

Note: I only said you were wrong Fenris because Stanford accepts about 2.7% of transfers which is much much lower than Hass’ admit rate.

^ You’re right, Hass is like 10% and Stanford’s 2.7%, I doubt, includes any CCC transfers. And I can’t remember where I read it, but if you transfer into Stanford, they supposedly admit you as a sophomore.

[Transfer Statistics, Undergraduate Program - Haas School of Business, University of California Berkeley](http://www.haas.berkeley.edu/Undergrad/statstransfer.html)

1089 applicants did not show planned completion of the admission requirements and were considered ineligible. Of the 402 eligible applicants, 101 (25%) were offered admission.

So, it’s actually not as low as 10%

^ Oh, wow, I stand corrected. I think I was quoting the ineligible number. But still, most other majors have an ineligible percentage matching Hass’ eligible one. Although, for other majors eligible isn’t so well defined.

is any of you transferring only after a year in CCC?
I have no ap credits but 12 trasferrable credits from CCC
and would love to transfer out by Fall 2011.
Would this be possible?
any advice?

Haas’s rate is at 6-8% every year, depending on how many applicants they receive. They usually take roughly 100 students per year. That 25% is irrelevant. Don’t think that Haas is easy to get into bc you see 25% on there.

As for Stanford, they take about a dozen students per year. Obviously much harder to transfer to Stanford than any other UC for any major.

@mrsdejonge You would need to take 48 more units before you transfer. Assuming you take 8 units this summer, you’ll need to take 20 units a semester. It’s doable, but it isn’t going to be easy getting all the classes you need; getting the units is as easy as signing up for any transferrable class, but classes for GE or any major prereqs fill up quick. I would advise against it if you want to get into a top tier UC.

More common than you might think. CalTech apparently does this too.

Well if any of us gets into Stanford or Caltech, i’m sure none of us will mind staying an extra year. (except paying for that extra yr of tuition of course)

I’d rather spend a year in Bostonnnnn

@EmpathyInAnarchy

Thank you so much to answer my question.
So you think that I better try to transfer in 2 years as most of people do?

But what if I tried to go to like 2 different CCCs to get the classes I want?
I really need to transfer out as soon as I can as I am too old to be around
boo hoo

O and yes, I would like to transfer to UCB Political Economy.
then apply to UCD and SF State Econ as backups.

It is totally doable. I had 16 units as of the end of last spring. Took 9 in summer. 20 this past fall (5 were remedial math) and am taking 20 now. Like you I wanted to transfer asap. I also worked 20 plus hours a week a party (I am 21) all the time and it really wasn’t hard.
So far I have been accepted into every csu I applied to but am still waiting for UCB.

OMG i just got an email from UCLA!!! it was entitled:

I am freaking out.
