Again about the valley bump I was actually pretty shocked when I was on the UC statfinder and saw how few UC transfers MJC had… Especially cause how overcrowded that school is! Ugh is everyone else’s CC parking as bad as mine? I literrally got out of my car and scared the shiz out of a girl for stealing my parking spot… Lol I felt bad when she was so scared of me that she offered to move… Anyways I digress… I feel like well over half of the people I talk to at my CC are headed to Stanislaus State just down the road which I just feel is so tragic!

Yeah, more like the valley slump. Most valley schools I’ve seen have lower admit rates than elsewhere… so I think it’s just wishful thinking.

The rates seemed high… But the amount of students seemed low.

Hmmm, maybe I interpreted it wrong. I think I was comparing a CC with really high admits to valley schools. But the few valley schools I’m looking at now, for Cal specifically, do seem to have higher acceptance rates of a few percentage points.

Wow, MJC has a 34% admit rate to UCB, considerably higher than average.
And SCC to UCB has a 48% admit rate.
ARC 39%.
Merced College 27%, which is the first I’ve seen below average for the valley.
Fresno CC 30%.

ARC to UCB is 39%? dang… i didnt know that… what is that like 6 kids attempting? haha. i go to arc and im going to ucsd next semester… super excited! i also feel like the difficulty of classes has not catered to my needs as a future UC student… i will be taking a summer semester course and trying to hone in on my study skills from now till then.

I think it was like 130 applicants at ARC.

Hey guys! Damn, I’m bummed I missed out on the late-night insomniac commotion…but I’m here now. Albeit, I’m on even later than usual. I was out with some friends tonight because my only class is today at 6 PM.

@ Empathy: How do you know what each CCC’s transfer rate to Berkeley is? Statfinder? I’m curious what College of San Mateo’s is lol. I would imagine…knowing the ppl at my CCC that very few apply/transfer there.

any science majors in the house jealous-tired of all these philosophy/econ/history acceptances? your answer might or might not increase eligibility for the friendship bracelets i will craft deep into the night when these levels of caffeine break my mind beyond studying

@ thlayli: I hear ya with the caffeine binge…It’s made me nocturnal.

Unfortunately, I’m not a science major :/.

Btw random realization…but it just hit me that the incoming freshman are finding out their fates from Berkeley tomorrow. Ughhh lol lucky kids.

@ SFwarrior: I knew you’d relapse
lol. The allure of the College Confidential UC Transfer Forum in the thick of the admission process is too much…even for a Stanford applicant.

Btw it would be interesting if you were to get in/go there and I went to UCB. Big Game would be intense! There would undoubtedly be some S*** talk preceding the game between us lol.

I stayed up all night for a Calculus 2 test that I’m still going to bomb, and I have a 5 minute speech to give in the morning, yay me!

I think i’ll take some caffeine x 1000.

@emil, 36%. All those numbers are for 08-09 so I’m not sure if those numbers are a long term trend or just coincidence. They have the data there, but I’m lazier than usual right now.

i dont know anyone from ARC transferring to UCB… my friend went to UCLA last fall, and im off to UCSD this next fall… yay for adding to positive statistics !

^^im from arc and im gunning for cal, ucla and stanford. whats your major?

rocks back and forth in the corner make the “decision pending” go away… just make it go away!

i want i want i want stanford already!!! cal and ucla would be really nice also :D

@audioslavery: Ya, that was me last night. 2 redbulls and a liter of pepsi. 4hrs of sleep but the extra studying really felt like it payed off today.

Did you guys see the stats on some of those Cal freshmen admits today? Holy jebus. 2400 SAT, 36 ACT, 4.49 weighted GPAs, 8 800 SATII’s, honors, AP, taking linear algebra junior year of high school and on and on.

Was trying to be productive and clean my room… I ended up washing my hair extensions and reading threads. ■■■ lol

@ Empathy: I know man, it’s crazy what those kids do and how young they are. I don’t know how thay can maintain all those crazy EC’s/comm. service/grades for 4 years. It’s actually weird to think about how much easier (generally speaking) it is to transfer to UCB.
