The One Thing You Are "Itching" to Buy

You Kindle people are TEMPTING me…!!! I have been researching the Kindle more today (I sure wish I could get that $99 deal I think many got around Christmas). Kindle won’t take our library downloads…but sounds like in other ways it’s the right choice. I’m concerned about the book download costs though…I RARELY purchase books - just use the library. I can never see myself paying the same cost to download a book as to HAVE the book though. But I want to read what I want to read - won’t just read a book cause it’s FREE. Maybe I should start a “Kindle/Nook - tell me the cons” thread!! I’m ITCHING!!!

One item I really would love to have is a SLK 350 with wood trims. Right after DS finish his college, I am going to get one.

On the kindle thing- I am a crazy avid reader, when I had surgery this summer I had two dozen library books stacked up to keep me company. By 6 weeks later, I had not read a one, as my eyes were so fuzzy post-anesthesia, then I had another batch of anesthesia. My Doc tells me it can affect the lens in your eyes for up to 6 months. So, maybe I will go back to my old normal or perhaps it tipped me into being old enough to need reading glasses :(

But I would be bored silly watching TV, so ordered some library books on CD and then after a bit, I ordered and ipod, my first. I have been listening to books, dowloadable free library books, ever since.

I don’t know how I feel about a kindle, I am not sure I need a ‘book’ that can short out when I drop it in the tub or in the lake  and I know I prefer my newspaper printed not online, but I can attest to the fun of the ipod & audible books and the usefulness of the library sites.

A winter home in the tropics. Or even the semi-tropics.

That is a nice bag, BunsenBurner! I am still feeling guilty about the $75.00 one I bought at TJ Maxx with Christmas money that was given to me so not in this lifetime.

I want an Alaskan cruise, too, HImom. Besides the cost, getting the whole family together will also take a miracle.

Maybe I’ll jump onto the iPad wagon too, if I’m allowed to have 2 things. It would be nice to have a little something to look at (besides a big clunky laptop) while H is watching my 2 most unfavorite shows (and his favorites)…Pawn Stars and Mecum Auto Auction.

Speaking of Mecum Auto Auction…I am NOT showing this thread to H…he has a tendency to “scratch”.

New landscaping in the front and backyards with a fieldstone patio…

trust me, everyone needs an iPad

New counter tops

My Kindle accompanies me in the tub nearly every night. They make waterproof cases for them. :)

You may want to consider contacting your local community college to see if they have a landscape program. Students made up my plan and did all the work for about half what the landscaping companies quoted. They did a great job!

I have thought and thought. There is nothing I want that much. My only “maybe” is I would really like new overhead garage doors, the kind with windows and fake hinges that look Craftsman-like or like carriage doors. Ours are …12 years old and functional.

I was so excited when H left for work Tuesday and forgot to open the door and crashed into his. This was my chance! Unfortunately, he (mostly) got it all pounded flat with a rubber mallet. It was kind of dark when he left. I did consider making it worse during the day. I told him to hit it harder next time!

^ Don’t ya just hate it when things won’t die…I have a 20 year old Kenmore refrigerator that has never even required a service call. I’m tempted to get out my hammer and screwdriver and go to ‘work’ in it. Been trying to convince hubby we need a second refrigerator, so we can retire this one to the basement.

I’m sure an iPad would be fun, and I’m sure I’d grow used to having one, but “need”? Hardly. No more than everyone *needs *a cell phone, a tv, a dishwasher, an iPod, or the screened porch I mentioned above. Lots of stuff to want, though. And nothing wrong with wanting.

My first thought was a Keurig coffee machine. But that seemed pretty pathetic compared to other itches. I am pretty happy with the “things” I have. I got an Iphone for my birthday which I didn’t think I wanted but I am enjoying.
I would love to have the time to travel somewhere far away. 5 or 8 days at a time just aren’t enough time to travel to another continent.

Right now…a chocolate bar.

Mom60 - Let’s go to Italy for a month.

Well, my first thought was a new neck - but it is not in my budget and I would be scared silly.

I’m not ‘itching’ for it but I’d be glad to have pretty much anything I’ve seen on the Mecum Auto Auction!

When I researched this a bit more a few days ago I was surprised to see that the Kindle version can sometimes cost MORE than the hardcover version of the book. This makes no sense at all since production/shipping costs for the Kindle version are near zero. However, many other books were less than the print versions or about the same and there seem to be quite a few free books - both older ones in the public domain as well as those simply free that I’d be interested in. Even if the Kindle cost is the same I’d like the Kindle version for the convenience.

I considered only briefly an iPad and some of the other devices but I think the Kindle trumps them all for reading books due to its display (ePaper vs LCD), ability to be read in daylight, long battery life, and cost (way less than an iPad). I’m sure there’ll be something better out shortly after I receive mine.

musica’s itch sounds so good I might go for a scratch… Or maybe I should put $2 in the jar that says “Fancy Bag Fund” :)

A very large, very full feather comforter. So large both H and I can wrap up in it.
