The University of Tampa Early Action/Rolling for Fall 2023 Admission

Yes, they are reviewed as they come in and released on a rolling basis.

It’s rolling, and normally about an 8 week wait for a decision.

Seems like it’s a bit different this year than previous. I don’t think they are reviewed on a rolling basis until after March 1st. I believe the kids that are hearing now are Early Decision. Early Action are guaranteed an admission decision by the end of February. Regular Decision by the end of March.

That is correct. My son was admitted 12/1 and applied ED.

Any EA admissions OOS?

No ea for anyone yet, only ed.

This is correct. I was expecting a quick decision, but as Tampa’s popularity has surged, I believe they have reverted back to regular deadlines.

Not here! OOS EA

U Tampa Instagram posted today that EA will begin rolling out on February 1st.

Is it on or by? Feb is crazy for EA, especially for such a small school.

The response today on Instagram was ā€œwe expect to begin rolling out EA decisions around Feb. 1.ā€

Ok. Interesting

When we visited in April we were told 4-6 weeks from time they got application, oh well lol

Yeah, that February date made me wonder why they even bother with EA. Doesn’t seem to be in line with other universities or what incentive students have to submit EA, but it is is what it is. I just hope it’s an acceptance once it comes!

Ugh-that seems so late for EA!

Agree - l’m not sure what the school has to gain by sending out EA decisions so late. Your more competitive kids are going to be hearing from other schools sooner and narrowing down their lists. My daughter has heard back from all the other schools (4) she applied EA and UTampa right now is not as appealing because she hasn’t heard anything and likely won’t until February. We’re already making plans to visit her top choices again and right now we can’t plan for UTampa.

Same. I’m planning to visit and revisit where I already have been accepted with great merit offers. I’m from NY and can’t just jet down to Tampa without knowing if I got accepted. I’m focusing now on my acceptances and really look more closely at them and my interest in Tampa is fading.

We’re from Kentucky and had a less than positive experience when we booked a trip in the fall to re-visit her top two choices that were both in FL. They didn’t respond at all to emails initially, then when they finally did, they were not interested in accommodating any special requests to find out more information about their marine biology program. Didn’t even offer to put her in touch with a student or professor. Just said they wouldn’t because she wasn’t an admitted student. We had already visited once, so were interested in a more in-depth look. Every other school, even ones of comparable size were more than accommodating when my daughter expressed interest in a particular program. It just makes me think that she would just be a number there and also that their recruitment process is not attracting desirable/higher achieving kids.

Yeah, I don’t get a warm, fuzzy feeling like I’ve gotten from nearly every other place I’ve applied. Admissions counselors reaching out, virtual info sessions, department members reaching out introducing themselves and seeing if I had questions, etc., Tampa hasn’t done any of that. I’ve gotten more personalized emails from TCU, Clemson, Nova Southeastern, Florida Tech, Baylor, Furman and App State that I would rather focus my attention there where I feel like they’re actually interested in me.

It makes me feel better that others have had the same experience and I’m not overreacting. My daughter isn’t quite as turned off as me. BTW, I graduated from Furman and had a great experience (although that was over 25 years ago!)
