The Walking Dead

Funny but slightly unrelated story. College D has watched this show from start. Over Christmas we are watching Love Actually and I’m messing around on IMbD looking up the actors I don’t know much about and I say “Hey, D…character on Love Act that falls for Kiera Knightly is on Walking Dead.” Her jaw dropped to floor. It was a mind blown moment  So funny. Actually lots of british actors on this show…

I watched it the first season and loved the campy exploding zombie heads. The second season totally lost me as they languished at the farm house for e. v. e. r…(writer conflict of some sort)

I’ve heard it’s gotten better. H has them taped so I’ll have to take a look.

Walking Dead is filmed in Georgia in a town not too far from where we live. Some parts have been filmed in our town. Youngest son has a friend who got to be an extra in one show. I think he ended up on the cutting room floor.lol Anyway’s we watch. But I am getting a little bored with the story. Oldest DS has read all the comic books. He thinks they should stick more to the comic book story.

I thought the first season was great - the second season dragged (too much bickering - not enough zombies) until the very end. Unlike some of the other commenters here, I like the current episodes and the ongoing character development. (Except for Andrea - she gets on my nerves. And Rick needs to quit being crazy.)

But I do like Darrel. And Michone. And Hershel. And - God help me, I never thought I’d say this - Carl.

scmom - all first season I kept thinking “where have I seen Rick before?” Then at Christmas time I saw “Love Actuially” again and the light bulb went off.

Last night’s episode was one of the best ever IMO. I wondered when Morgan would reappear. It was tragic but it helped Rick to get his spirit back. Loved Michone’s personality andCarl became a real character. Perfect ending with the image on the road( no spoilers.) this episode was a welcome break from the prison and Woodbury. It is always a better story when they are on the road.

^^ Couldn’t agre more - Michone talks, Rick reunites with Morgan, and Carl pitches a teenage fit. I was so glad to see more out of Michone’s character, and I thought Morgan’s presence was very powerful.

And it was so nice NOT to see Andrea.

Hi everyone–I haven’t seen any posts on this thread for awhile, but just wanted to see what you all thought about the season finale last night as well as the season overall. I have to say that I didn’t really see Andrea’s death coming, although at the same time I wasn’t really sad to see her go. I was more sad about Milton, to tell the truth. What I really didn’t understand was why those two guys who ended up being the only ones the Governor didn’t kill didn’t just shoot him when he wasn’t looking and then ended up going with him. What?!! Are they crazy? My husband was yelling at the TV the whole time telling them not to go with him! I guess he’ll still be around next season creating more mayhem.

My big “I don’t get it” with respect to the finale was about the decision to bring the Woodberry survivors to the prison instead of vice versa. Woodberry has electricity and running water, food sources, decent housing and good zombie protection. The prison has next to nothing in human comforts plus, if I’m not mistaken, there is still a section where zombies are roaming. Makes no sense to me.

I was quite happy to say goodbye to Andrea, one of the dumbest characters ever to appear on TV. Her leisurely efforts at escaping her bonds–gazing into the distance, chatting up Milton—were the icing on the cake.

You’re right MommaJ, that made no sense at all, unless they were all afraid the Governor would come back there for some reason. And I also agree with you about Andrea being so dumb that she wasted all that time talking to Milton–he was even telling her to hurry up and she still didn’t seem very concerned, until, of course, he had already turned.

One thing I was glad to see is that Rick has apparently stopped seeing Laurie–maybe the “going crazy” stuff is finally over. I wonder how the dynamics of the show will change with all those new people from Woodbury at the prison.

Didn’t he see her once last night? She was standing on a hill outside? Or maybe I’m seeing things now…

Yes, early in the show he saw her, standing high up on a scaffolding in the prison.
But I’m pretty sure that at the end of the show, Rick was deliberately gazing around the prison as the new people moved in as though looking to see her again, and didn’t.

Like she can be content to move on now that the group is safe.
Anyway, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

What I don’t get about them going back to the prison is that they are filming in Senoia
(aka Woodbury) again this year. That’s what are local paper said anyway… I know that not all the scenes are filmed there ,for example the prison is in a different location in Georgia but still I think they must be going back there for at least a good part of next season otherwise it doesn’t make a lot of sense for them to be filming there.

According to Robert Kirkman (the guy behind the graphic novels and one of the show’s story consultants), Rick moved the Woodbury people into the prison because the prison is more defensible against human attack than is Woodbury. Rick is still worried about the Governor (according to Kirkman, the Governor will return next season), and the creators of the show say that the fight at the end of this season was “only a skirmish.”

Although they are doing some shooting in the Woodbury location, Season Four will start off in the prison and likely stay there for much of the season. Supposedly “season four is all about change” - “more world-building,” whatever that means.

I am glad to see this thread resurrected (ha ha). I was sorry to see Milton go, but I was even sorrier to see the end of Merle.

And watch out for Carl - he’s a psychopath in the making

I didn’t understand the scene too that’s why I didn’t like the finale.

Rick no longer saw his wife’s ghost at the end. Lori probably wanted him to rescue the Woodbury people.

Well, if that happens we have to thank Rick for that. Wasn’t Carl with Rick when they drove by a backpacker who desperately pleaded to join them? As a child in a zombie apocalypse world, he decided to adapt to the “kill-or-be-killed” mindset. I can’t really blame Carl for shooting the young man. The young man did not drop his weapon. Instead, he was moving towards Carl still holding the weapon. I thought he was going to lunge at Carl at some point. Of course, Carl could have told the young man to drop his weapon again. Actually, Hershel should have said it.

Did anyone else notice Andrea’s perfectly painted toenails? How did she manage to keep her feet so clean considering she wasn’t wearing socks with her boots? I wonder what OPI color she used. Maybe giving Andrea a mani-pedi was part of the Governor’s torture.

This was a hot topic of conversation on “Talking Dead.”

Actually, I prefer Carl-the-psychopath. It’s better than the the-perpetually missing-child-Carl from the first three seasons. Honestly, Lori was the most negligent mother…

Ah, I missed Talking Dead. I had to watch Game of Thrones. I didn’t even get a chance to watch the past 2 episodes of The Bible. It’s difficult to watch an Abercrombie Jesus.

What an Amazing show!!
Agree with what many of you said about the two guys (Martinez and ‘the Bowman’) going with the Governor. One of them SHOULD have shot him, but I guess that after Alan attempted to shoot him, and got shot, they weren’t bold enough to raise a weapon to him and they probably didn’t know if the ‘other one’ was thinking the same thing or not, so if you shoot the Gov, and the other guy is fiercely loyal to him, you might end up dead yourself. Yvette Nicole Brown (on Talking Dead) was very funny last night talking about how gingerly both guys got into that truck when the Gov. was ready to take off down the road.
Andrea was really on my nerves this whole season, BUT I did cry when she was dying. Just watching Mishone cry made me cry. I remember when Amy died how emotional Andrea was. And Andrea’s great relationship with Dale. It was sad to hear that gunshot go off.
Tyrese was on the Talking Dead (with Darryl!!) last night and I have to say that Tyrese has become one of my favorites on the show. Love him and his sister and the looks that they perfectly give each other. I can always figure out what they ‘mean’ to say, even when they are not talking!

I can’t believe we have to wait until Fall for more WD!!! AHHH!

Reviving this thread because of tonight’s new episode - excited for the new season, but still mourning the end of “Breaking Bad.”

Thanks for the reminder, scout. Just told my H to record it.
