My daughter just accepted her offer at UPS today and she is so excited. Like Sasha, she’s from the East Coast and applied to schools all over the country. Was accepted at some top schools (like the University of Virginia), but ultimately picked UPS because she loved the campus, the outdoor program and the overall enthusiasm of the students. I found it to be one of the most welcoming of all the campuses we toured (15+). Where we live, there is so much pressure to get into the most competitive schools and my suggestion is to look at places that feel right. Academically, my daughter will succeed anywhere, but she was looking for a community that felt right. She is Vegan, loves the outdoors, and wanted a collaborative, not competitive, environment. We found Puget Sound in “Colleges that Change Lives” and I hope it will be a transformative experience for my daughter.
