Things that guarantee admission to TOP colleges

Hi, out of curiousity I am wondering what achievements basically guarantee admission to the college of your choice.

I’ll start the list:

Finding cure for cancer

Proving an unprovable thorem

Find Bin Laden

haha. NICE.

Proving an unprovable thorem

Find Bin Laden

Discover the secret of the universe

my friend at our school won the national siemens science award for an invention… he’s already into Harvard EA, and was told by stanford he could go if he wanted… (he has 200K worth of scholarships too) I’m pretty sure he can get in anywhere

Donate a building.

Be a movie star. TV stardom is a bit iffier - you’d have to be in something critically acclaimed, or at the very list not embarrassing.

Found a field hospital in Nairobe

The art of bribery :)

nice. How about an Olympics champ, ISEF national winner, billionaire
or just plain luck

IMO winner, or any other international olympiads winner.

Get your daddy to run for president

oh, or if your last name is Clinton, Bush, Kennedy, Rockefeller, or Gates and your family is willing to contribute a lot of money.

Invent a perpetual motion machine.

HAHAHAHAHA. nice one cncm. I’m putting my money on an olympic medal winner.

If you are a member of the International math olympiad team, would that work?

not really; try to be the next Albert Einstein-- that works!

Having the Dean’s children

um, newcool, i actually did your #2, I gave a counterexample to the Beal conjecture, collected the $75,000 in prize money, and got deferred from Yale. I think BEING LARRY SUMMERS would guarantee admission to Harvard.

What counter example did you find?

1600 SAT, 4.0, Created 3 clubs, 1,200 hours of community service, minority, poor background, won national science award, 4 time state champion debator, play 7 instruments (2 of which you invented), wrote essays that would rival a professionals…

Oh, wait, that doesn’t get you anywhere at the top schools. Well then, I guess its back to building a $15 million student center or having a parent elected as a senator.
