Seriously, he does not care about either thing. He’s not exactly Mr. Conventional Family Man. And he’s hardly Mr. Anti-drug use, lol. Give me a break.
Elon has a tendency to say stuff without thinking, and saying he’s moving the HQs out of California because of a law that would protect the privacy of trans kids sounds like an example of that. I would totally sympathize with him if he said was moving them to Texas because of California’s business-hostile climate, though.
Austin is like Las Vegas for me. I used to love them, but now they have no appeal. I was in Austin in April, and what made it unique when I first visited in 1977 has disappeared. It’s just another nondescript Texas city now. It is building an impressive skyline, though.
My first reaction to the news was a lot of empathy for the employees. Then I thought about the Texas power grid. We shall see how it all plays out.
Demand concerns? I can’t believe it.
We saw one yesterday and my wife said it looks like something out of Mad Max.
I replied that they look tough but they break in car washes and you can’t drive them in the rain ![]()
Direct from the owner’s manual:
While driving in the rain, the wiper blade may pause in the horizontal position for approximately 30 seconds before continuing to wipe the windshield.
At 60mph, 30s is about half a mile without the wipers going. Fun times during a downpour.
Good grief. Pay to play I guess. ![]()
There are huge tax benefits to serving in government for rich people. If they are forced to sell shares due to a potential conflict of interest, they can put the proceeds in other securities like treasury bonds and defer tax on that sale indefinitely. It can be an enormous retirement perk. If you own a wildly overvalued company (viz Tesla) and need an excuse to sell before it collapses, that would be even better.
Ick. Ick. Ick!
That was so gross i wanted to sanitize my eyeballs after unfortunately reading it.
Toxoplasma is a threat to our democracy?
LMAO. What an idiotic comment.
Pretty sure that’s a fake tweet. (Not Travis Kelce)
Yeah, I easily found Elon’s tweet but not Kelce’s reply. Elon is so gross. And creepy.
Guess he wanted to remind everyone why so many women picked the bear.
I agree with those who are saying Elon should receive a visit from the Secret Service and that there should be a Senate hearing for his tweet:
“And no one is even trying to assassinate Biden/Kamala
”
Serious question - if the CEO of a major government contractor basically calls for the assassination of the Vice President and Presidential nominee, shouldn’t that trigger a review if not cancellation of their government contracts?
Such questions, while valid, are best posed in the appropriate thread in the politics forum
