It is hype. Please read SDN thread where students are saying they didnt receive a penny.
I saw one kid complain he only got $18K/year because his family income is too high. And another one who admits his family income is way over $300K/year and so didn’t qualify.
I did see another guy who is low income and non traditional post he got a full ride : tuition plus COL allowance.
I didn’t see others than those 3 and I did keyword search.
N=3 out of class of 120.
It’s not a gimmick, It a program for students who don’t come from high income/high asset families.
Update --just found a 4th student who got full COA at Hopkins and full COA at Columbia.
My contention is it is not all students unlike at NYU. One is one too many.
My daughter received financial aid offers from both accepted schools. One package consists entirely of loans (federal and private), while the other includes a small need-based scholarship along with loans. We visited both schools last week, but she hasn’t made a decision yet. That said, she really can’t go wrong with either one.

It’s official!!!
My daughter has chosen Boston University School of Medicine. Thank you all for your help, guidance, and support along the way. It’s been an up-and-down journey since she started college in 2021, but she stayed focused, kept pushing forward, and never lost sight of her goals.
We’re incredibly proud of her hard work, and determination. Excited for this next chapter and everything that lies ahead!

congrats. boston is fun place to be for the next 4 yrs.
We love downtown Boston, but hate the parking. The public transportation, though, is excellent.
