Tiger Woods

Northstarmom - thanks, just trying to gain perspective.

alwaysamom - I agree. Maybe it’s jealously.
Funny - people are quick to label him a sex addict and then want to lock him away forever (and he hasn’t done anything illegal)… I think if he was caught dealing drugs and was a drug addict folks would be urging him into rehab and wishing him well, while hoping he didn’t get much prison time.

HGH is not illegal, but it is illegal for athletes, though undetectable, and it absolutely increases the bodies ability to heal. I’ve really never thought it should be illegal since it shows many beneficial qualities, as do steroids for people with autoimune issues…

[Why is HGH illegal in sports](ispr.org)

Who wants to lock Tiger up (besides Elin), and why?

Assault with a friendly weapon?

Oh no, 07!

“Maybe it’s jealously.

I find it funny that people find his behavior only “disappointing”. I hope for the best for Tiger and his family but I will absolutely never be able to look at him in the same way again. It has nothing to do with jealousy or him being a celebrity - his actions, even if only the ones he’s admitted, show him to be a person that I can’t respect, a person that’s not worthy of being held up as a role model to children. If he were the principal at my child’s school instead of a wealthy celebrity figurehead of an educational foundation for children, I would feel the same way about him.

And the claim of not having done anything illegal just blows me away. Does it have to be illegal to be wrong?

I might be inferring meaning that is not there, but steroids for people with automimmune issues or other inflammatory conditions (corticosteroids) are different than the steroids which are banned in athletics (anabolic steroids). You may be saying that corticosteroids are beneficial and not illegal, therefore HGH should be as well, but I wasn’t sure.

I have read the entire thread, but with over 92 pages, I could have missed it. Who has said they want to lock TW up “forever?” I don’t even recall reading that anyone even suggested his infidelity was illegal…

Nrdsb4-- yes, I was saying that the steroids used for asthma, for example, are beneficial and life saving. (You do actually have to have a doctor’s permission to be able to use these in anything above high school athletics, btw)…and I believe HGH is beneficial in healing and ought not to be kept from athletes who do so much damage to thier bodies…but that is just my opinion.

A side note - corticoteroids used for reduction of inflammation of airways/asthma treatment are different from the anabolic steroids illegaly used by some athletes to bulk up their muscle. Regardless, even some asthma drugs prefectly approved by the FDA for the use in astmatics are illegal for use in sports because they are condidered performance-enhancing (the better you breathe, the better you run). And if you are a top-level Olympic athlete, you better be very careful about what you eat and what you take. We once hosted a college student who was involved in a Olympic sport at the international level, and the girl was very, very careful about what she ate (I took her shopping with us so she could pick the trusted and proven ingredients for the meals I planned to cook).

“extramarital affairs while his wife was pregnant; sex parties; porn stars; bimbos; lies;”

What’s your point?

“Funny - people are quick to label him a sex addict and then want to lock him away forever (and he hasn’t done anything illegal)… I think if he was caught dealing drugs and was a drug addict folks would be urging him into rehab and wishing him well, while hoping he didn’t get much prison time.”

I don’t want to see him locked up at all. I do think he’s probably a sex addict. As far as I’m concerned, he can continue to play golf and have any willing bimbo he wants. I would just like to see companies stop sponsoring him and using him as a their spokesman.

I would make exceptions, though, for companies that produce condoms or attire for hoochie mamas.

attire for “hoochie mamas”. Hmmm…would that be Victoria’s Secret??

I know it’s not Chico’s…although I heard today that he played around with a post-40 gal. Do ya think she was wearing beads, tiger prints (lol) and long flowy sweaters?

OMG, Is this her???

I think Victoria’s Secret has attire that’s classier than is hoochie mama attire.

You know, one good thing the Tiger Woods situation reflects about the U.S. is that I’ve seen relatively little racist comments about it. Once upon a time what one black person did reflected upon the whole race (even if the person looked less black than does Tiger). And once black men risked their lives for even looking at white women.

Now, it seems that Tiger’s indiscretions reflect only upon Tiger, and the most danger he’s facing is losing lucrative sponsorships.

As for the “cougar” he’s allegedly played around with for 5 years, she’s either 47 or 49-years-old! So, if any of the moms here have been hoping for their chance with Tiger, your dreams may come true…

Why does everyone see this as a black-white issue, if they do see it as a racial issue at all? While I heavily condone Tiger Woods for his actions, I don’t see how it has anything to do with his race. Besides, if anything, as an Asian American, I wouldn’t say that Tiger Woods is a bad black man, but rather that he is a disgrace to the Asian race. ;)

Actually, my point was that very few people anywhere seem to have mentioned race in connection with Tiger Woods’ situation, and I think that reflects a lot of progress in the U.S.

Saying this as an African American woman who – for one of the first times in my life – didn’t cringe when a black celebrity did something wrong. I was brought up to believe that when any black person did wrong, society would view that as being a reflection of the whole race, and obviously, that’s not true any more.

Even though Tiger is extremely mixed, he still looks like an African American. One wouldn’t look at him and think he’s mainly Asian.

Yep, much more civilized to just cut off his endorsements.

I find this interesting. I am Asian and lived in South East Asia before. I thought Tiger looks like a lot of Thai man. Maybe we tend to see the features we are more familiar with. :)

Okay, but I would like to point out that both Northstarmom and Toneranger have now said, “hoochie mama.” :)

Tiger needs the wife around so that he can rehabilitate his public image and get back on the company-spokesman gravy train. (Also to rehabilitate his marriage and his relationship with his kids, of course.)

This thread has become one big Hen Party!
