Tips and Tricks for Makeup Lovers!

Reminds me of a dad joke:

My wife asked me to get her some chapstick. I bought superglue by mistake. It’s been a month, and she’s still not talking to me.

I’m a fan of this product posted above since I received it.

In the summer my skin does darken up (Mediterranean skin tone, I tan easily!) so this helps provide just a little color/blush on my face.

I really like Banana Boat lip balm, various SPF’s.

Thanks - I picked Banana Boat up recently, and I think it’s better than some for sure.

I found sunbum lip balm in my golf bag.

Do not recommend, it was extremely drying.

I see that it was already not recommended. I concur :+1:

Speaking of sunscreen…

Thank you to whoever recommended the Ambre Essence perfume! My sampler came today and one whiff and I’m in love. That NEVER happens and this has notes I never would have picked for myself from a description.

I use Cerave regularly day moisturizer with SPF30, and my face is “pasty white,” even though the rest of my body gets tan, despite using SPF 30-50 regularly. And it’s pretty inexpensive, so I’m happy.

From what I understand American sunscreen’s tech tends to be outdated so I personally use Japanese ones with a PA rating

They also don’t tend to have a white cast

I use a sunscreen for face (Nutrogena sheer, spf 60). But after a very sweaty run and sunblock in my eyes, I need to find something different. I wear a hat and sunglasses but try to always have sunblock too. Sunscreen is actually my main (and admittedly mellow) anti-aging regime.

LaRoche Posay is a great sunscreen as well as Colorscience. The latter even has a brush on powder sunscreen that I’ve used around my hairline. Currently I use this on my face:

I have a friend who buys LaRoche Posay in bulk in Europe because her derm told her it was more effective than the American version.

I do this as well. La Roche Posay has a filter called UV Mune that is approved in Europe but not the US. It filters longer length UVA rays which has helped me prevent my melisma from worsening much better than the Elta MD UV Clear I used to use. It’s also more affordable, even when ordering from oversees pharmacies.

Do you have to buy the La Roche in a special overseas Amazon shop or other website to get that extra protection?

I purchase from cocooncenter, which I believe is in France, and sweetcare, which I think it in Portugal. The shipping isn’t very fast, so I try to order several at a time, and I’ve never received one that is close to the expiration date.

The price varies from about $15-$25, though I’m not sure why. It is still much cheaper than the Elta MD at $45-ish.

Anyone have a waterproof mascara they recommend?

For my son’s wedding I used Clinique High Impact waterproof mascara. It was fine, and I’m a cryer.

Anyone know why NARS the multiple seems to be unavailable in most shades? I only use a couple of products regularly, and that’s one of them (Maui).
Anyone have suggestion for something similar?
Thanks

I bought LaRoche Posay at Target last week and I really like it. Will be my go-to from now on.

I like Thrive Causemetics liquid lash extensions mascara for a waterproof mascara. Also Too Faced better than sex mascara (dislike name though) but find the latter a little harder to remove. Despite Thrive being waterproof, it can be removed just by washing my face and no remover needed, which is better for my minimalist self.
