Totally agree on Thrive products. I use the Liquid Lash Extensions. It’s a tubing mascara and washes off easily and doesn’t flake or smear. I also like Trish McEvoy lash curling tubular mascara. It’s not waterproof but I have never had a problem. I have tried all kinds of mascaras and these two are great.
I started following Erica Taylor on Insta based on recommendation here. At first I was put off by her fast talking and kind of aggressive demeanor . But - she has good, very practical make-up tips that are bite-sized (only a minute or two). I’ve picked up a few techniques and now am a fan lol
@abasket I ordered that Amazon product after you posted the link. I got two different colors but have only used one so far. I can’t remember the name of the one I’m using, but it’s fairly light - doesn’t add much color really but it does seem to give me a healthy glow.
I have Mediterranean skin also and tan very easily. Alas, in 2021 a spot on my cheek was found to be “Melanoma in situ” so no more sun for me! I still go to the beach but I lather up and stay under an umbrella. And I walk in the early morning when the sun isn’t as strong. I do miss having a nice summer glow tho (I have no desire to try fake tanning products).
I got my darker complexion from my
Mom who was from Morocco-
And guess what -
Not surprisingly she had skin cancer on her legs the last few years of her life - decades of enjoying the sun and little to no sunscreen.
I am being more careful
And lathering up with SPF. But I also practically live outside on my time off. Learning to also appreciate the shady parts of the yard!
Gone are the days of baby oil or mayonnaise (yes that’s right) of my 20s to get a tan!
Well, I think I’ve found my foundation. Milani Conceal and Perfect has the elusive dewy full-coverage I’ve been looking for and in a color that’s a perfect match for my skin. Now to buy several bottles before it’s either discontinued or my color is no longer available…
I think I’ll stick with my It Cosmetics foundation for now as I’m pretty happy with it, but decided the It concealer is maybe a bit too thick and is settling in under eye creases. I’ve been using the Tarte shape tape instead for a month or so because of lots of good reviews and others said it doesn’t crease. However, I still have some creasing even when I have the under eye area moisturized and use a primer. I’m not sure if I just need a different product, different technique, or if it is just inevitable. Any thoughts?
I bought the Estee Lauder double wear foundation for my upcoming destination wedding.
So far so good. I’ve worn it working out and tried to wear all day to see how it works.
The good news is no oxidation, the color match is good. Doesn’t itch which happens sometimes for me.
For every day I like a lighter stick foundation, either Merit or Fenty. But thought I would like something with more coverage since I’ll probably be in pictures.
Wish me luck it will at least look good for pictures.
Recently bought the super goop skin tint. Hate it, oxidizes like crazy. I looked orange. Bought directly from supergoop, probably would have returned it if I bought from Sephora. It was that bad.
Isn’t Supergoop known for its sunblock with superior properties? That’s the nature of chemical sunscreens - they protect you by oxidizing themselves! And those oxidized compounds may further react with other substances in the product to create this weird color change. I only use Supergoop sunscreen thingy. Thanks for the warning about their tinted ones!
I use cle de’ peau. It’s pricey, but a little goes a long way. My tube lasts 3 years. It’s what the Hollywood makeup artists use. Great coverage. I’ve just started using NARS color corrector first, which gets rid of the dark poodle line. I pat that with a brush and let set a minute. Then I use the cle de Peau, but much less.
