@elena13: Do you set your under eye concealer with setting powder? I use a flat bottomed make up sponge to dab on my under eye stuff and when done, I use the “baking” method of applying a lot of setting powder under my eyes and letting it sit there for a bit before brushing the excess powder off. I find that when I set the under eye make-up, I never crease. I also use a triangle/egg shaped powder puff to get the powder right up under my eyes. https://www.elfcosmetics.com/halo-glow-powder-puff/29851.html
I use It Cosmetics under eye loose setting powder, but lately I have been using Huda loose powder and I love it! The Huda powder comes in different tints and you can select the tint based on your particular issues. I have used the peach pie and cherry blossom tints for under my eyes and I think I like the peach pie better (the Sephora salesperson helped me select my Huda powder colors)

@PurplePlum - Thanks for the tips and link! I haven’t really been using a setting powder under my eyes because some of the videos said that baking could be drying for some people and sometimes I have trouble with that. Instead I had been using a matte setting spray (dabbing with a brush). However, since you suggested the powder, I tried over the weekend using a small brush to put some powder over the concealer and it seemed to work better for me. So thanks! Now, to see if I’m willing to shell out more $ for a fancier setting powder.
I also noticed that some of my foundation is breaking up at times and not setting as well, and I think it’s partly because I’m not exfoliating. My skin is pretty sensitive so I’ve avoided that and just use a Cerave gentle cleanser. However, I’m starting to look into some facial exfoliants for occasional use.
I started using one more recently, but I’m mostly putting it under my eyes and I don’t think I’m using enough where I’m having trouble with foundation. I’ll give that a try.
I use ‘Take the Day Off’ cleansing balm from Clique then follow with a gentle cleanser (Neutrogena). Really works well.
I’ve been using Dermablend body makeup on legs to cover skin imperfections (works amazingly!). But am looking for something a bit light reflective to put on top that won’t remove the makeup. The Dermablend is pretty drying and not a good look in that way…!
A would anyone have suggestions? Maybe like a spray on highlighter?
This keeps coming up in my feed and seems to get good reviews. If you look at their website a few times, it will probably start showing up in your feeds with discount codes.
Someone save me from buying the Cle de Peau foundation So expensive but I’ve been looking for a new foundation since Lancome changed their formulation and have been through a lot of the high end brands with no success. I tried their concealor years ago and remember liking it.
I used the westmore product posted above for my son’s recent wedding and I really liked it- purchased the brush to apply it with. The bride used it too:)
Oh wow that is pricey! Maybe try a sample of the It Cosmetics foundation. I’ve been mostly happy with that one after trying a few others. Unfortunately their 50% off sale on the foundation ended Friday, but they seem to have sales somewhat regularly.
Thank you CollegeNerd67! Dermablend has been my go-to for years (awesome for beach vacations) but I’m noticing that the dryness is not the look I want.
Will check that out! I bet exfoliation would help too…
@elena13 : Make up artist Erika Taylor suggested using a pressed powder under eyes, rather than a loose powder to avoid the dryness issue. Take a look at this video and she will explain why…I may try her technique as well to see how it looks…
I have never had to use any powder to set my under eye concealer and it stays all day. Is it really needed? I first use the nars color corrector (which is creamy), and I press it with a tiny brush. Then I wait a minute fir it to dry a little then use the Cle de Peau concealer. It’s fine without anything on top of it.
@conmama I need it for sure as I have to layer more than one under eye concealer product, due to the the particular discoloration under my eyes. As rosechild states, it depends on one’s skin type and it would depend on the product(s) being used.
I would not powder under my eyes unless I needed to as I have found that powder can look funny under eye. So, sure if one does not have a creasing issue then I’d leave it be. But if one is creasing, then I’d consider using powder.
There’s genuinely no effective way to reapply sunscreen over makeup. A lot of spf sprays and spf powders are scams. If you can get your makeup to be lightweight/transferproof a sunscreen stick is normally your best bet or a spf with high alchohol content
