To The Ladies: How Do You Wear Your Leggings?

CF, I would experiment. The trick with booties is to match the color of the bootie and the tights/leggings. A tiny heel also helps. I personally really, really like wedge heels because they are sturdy. Solid color wedge sneakers also work well with tights and long tees/sweaters for a sportier look.

I like this dress/tunic:

[Women’s Carve Emmett Dress | Terry Bicycles](http://www.terrybicycles.com/Apparel/skorts/Emmett-Dress)

and the leggings shown with it:

but I don’t know what shoes would work. Certainly not the boots shown. Maybe the dress but with black leggings/tights and black boots.

I love this dress too:

And this one:

Pretty stuff. Being the practical sort, my first thought for the upper half is short enough to keep out of the chain! :)

CF, I love the Emmett dress! Personally I’m not a huge fan of leggings in any color other than black (except my Tabby Tights :)), but I like the grey leggings in your link - very cosy and comfy! I would wear this outfit with grey (suede) wedge sneakers.

Or

Not sure if these exact colors would match the grey color of the leggings. It would be so much easier to find a boot to go with black leggings because there are so many more options available!

I just received the Costco leggings. LOVE these things. As someone who will not wear binding and uncomfortable clothes it’s often very hard to find items that do not constrict at the waist. The 2" band on these is wonderful. They feel just supportive enough to give me ‘happy legs’ but not so constricting that I feel like a sausage.

I let my H talk me into going to the suburban costco instead of the Seattle store & they didnt have any leggings.
:frowning:
Lots of kids clothes though.

Which Costco leggings are you referring to? What is the brand? The ones at our Costco are the CK ones, which are loose enough to have wrinkles and also have zipper and back pockets; jeggings. Am curious about any other Costco leggings.

The Costco I went to didnt have any leggings, they did have some calvin klein jeans in black but not my size & too heavy to be considered jeggings I think.
They also had Calvin klein down jackets & they had long underwear.
But if I was going to wear long underwear as leggings, well, I already have some!

Are these the Costco leggings?

Some Costco stuff is sold online only via their Costco.com site.

^^^^Yes…those are the ones BB…they seem to only be available online. Our local Costco did not have them on the shelf.

Ok. Thx. Good to know.

My Athleta Sunburst dress came yesterday. I love it! It fits perfectly although I didn’t have tights or leggings on when i tried it on. I am hoping I don’t get any waist “sausaging” when I do. For those of you who have this or other Athleta dresses, do you think it will shrink at all? I don’t think I can afford that!

CF, I have very short legs and am very long waisted but I don’t think wearing leggings with flats/ankle boots makes my legs look even shorter. I make sure that flats/boots are same color as leggings (in my case always black) and I usually wear a black top, too - though I often wear a sweater of a different color, over my top.

I like the jeggings from Costco better than the leggings and yoga pants. The latter are made from nylon and spandex/lycra. The Jeggings have more cotton in them, so are better suited to our warm, humid weather.

Glad you like your new dress–I am reluctant to purchase clothing online, as we like to see how things actually look before purchasing. So far, have not had luck with online clothing, except some outwear. Things are so tough to get the correct sizing.

OK I bought a pair of leggins. Not sure what I’m going to do with them. Worse case scenario is they go on under my ski pants so not a loss. I suppose they might be comfy for cleaning the house and I can certainly wear them to the gym instead of yoga pants. They won’t go to work because I have black tights for that and I’m not a “granny boot” person by any means and like my boots coming up to my knees when I wear a skirt and boots… But it’s been fun reading this thread.

I worry about the line above the ankles, if you wear leggings with flats and no socks. With my stubby legs, I don’t like to cut them up.

CF, I would think anybody who rides the miles like you do is going to have great legs, and that’s probably what would be most noticeable if you chose to go with leggings, but you’ve got to go with what clothing and styles make you feel best.

EPTR, I can’t vouch for that particular dress from Athleta (though I bought it last year but had to return it as it did not look good on me…nice dress), but I have another knit dress from Athleta and have had no problems with shrinkage. I wash it in cold water in the machine, but I drip dry it. I just ordered a couple of dresses from Athleta, in fact.

“I worry about the line above the ankles, if you wear leggings with flats and no socks. With my stubby legs, I don’t like to cut them up.”

I don’t wear socks when I were them with flats and honestly it hasn’t been a problem, but my leggings generally come all the way down to my ankle so only the top of my foot shows. And I have very, very short legs and an extremely long torso. I’m only 5"1 but if I was sitting next to someone 5’8 or so you would think I was that tall.

Someone with short legs and a long torso can fool the eye proportionally speaking, by wearing a slightly shorter top. A tunic that stops mid thigh will make the torso look really long. I’d wear a top that stops at the crotch or slightly above the fleshiest part of the thigh. Also, a flat with a small heel - even 1/2" will elongate the leg.

I agree with soozievt. Wash the Athleta dress inside out in cold water and hang to dry, and it should be fine. I do this with Lole and Nike dresses with great results.
