BB, good suggestion–I like that blue, too. The shirt I saw was a no-iron/wrinkle-free shirt. Made for a nice look but you make a good point about avoiding serious wrinkling!

FYI on the lole calm dress, it ran really small on me. It was a nice sweatshirt material, nice and soft.

I found the Mountain Hardware dress at Sierra trading post for $61 (after coupon) in gray. I prefer the plum but I will try the grey for half the price.

In keeping with the theme of this thread, the dresses or tunics I got which could be worn with leggings or tights that I am keeping are:

I am returning this one, as I felt it looked too fitted on me. It’s cute, but also a heavier sort of fabric:

I own various short boots, but up until now, have only worn them under pants and not with skirts or dresses. I’m trying to get with the program and will start wearing some with tights or leggings. My D always wears short boots with dresses. The two newest ones I got that could go that way are:

A pair I got last year also works with tights/leggings. I can’t recall the brand and they likely can’t be found this year but look very much like this pair:

Sooz, my favorites are the first two Soma dresses and the Sahalie skirt - those are “me”!

Looks like you have a great collection going for leggings season. :)

Thanks! The links were not perfect.

The Perfect Packerita Dress I got from Athleta was in the golden brown color.

The Sahalie skirt I got was in the charcoal color.

I wanted to shout out a THANK YOU to all the contributors on this thread. It has motivated me to revamp parts (many parts) of my wardrobe that just weren’t working. Since I actually hate shopping, the internet was made for me Based on all the helpful info found here, I’ve assembled a nice set of outfits based on leggings, jeggings and some very cool boots. I love this style (I loved the original version in the 80’s ) and it is so very comfortable to wear.

I am in the midst of packing for our first empty nest getaway – a 15 day cruise. Packing for trips has always been a source of great stress for me. It is so much easier this time around – at least for the semi casual/semi dress up portion of the trip.

Still need help with the daytime casual wear that must be machine washable and comfortable and wrinkle resistant…

Dietz, Athleta has some really good stuff on sale that might be perfect for a cruise - your choice of skirts, skorts, shorts, tops, sundresses, capris, etc.!!

[Sale | Athleta](Athleta)

I SO wish I had an Athleta near me to check out in person more often. :(

Which incidentally, I’m tempted to order this dress on sale - I actually like all the colors - green, gray, plum…

Great price!

Abasket they are opening an Athleta store in Ann Arbor soon.

Ok so this is why I have problems with leggings. I found a cute pair of leggings and some cute tops that cover my bum. FYI my TJ Maxx had some cute dresses and tops for leggings in their fitness section. I have a pair of ballet flats and looked at cute boots. Today it is 40 and rain out. I put on my cute bum covering sweater but my rain coat only falls to my hip and the sweater stuck out another foot. It looked ridiculous!

I swear I think I’ve got this trend covered and something else crops up. Lol! First world problems.

But how long did you have it on for? Rainy and 48 here today, and I’m wearing basically the same thing, but my stops involved being out in the rain for no more than 40 feet, so I ditched a raincoat option. But if I had worn one, it would have been just in the car, then from the car to wherever I was going indoors, then take the raincoat off. But I’m in the 'burbs and basically drive most places so I’m not outside for any length of time.

That being said, the raincoat I do have comes down to my knees. If it’s raining out enough for me to wear a raincoat, I want more of me protected, thus the knee-length raincoat.

However, if I ever saw someone wearing what you were wearing today, I would NEVER think, “How ridiculous.” Honestly, I likely wouldn’t even notice. I just tend not to notice whatever someone is wearing outside in the elements because I realize that 98% of the population cannot possible have the perfect outerwear for every outfit that they own. I would just hope that they’re comfortable.

PERFECT - AA2 is one of our favorite weekend destinations! I wonder if it’s going to be in that new little strip by Arborland…

I thought your shirt hanging down below the level of your jacket/coat/other shirt was the in look. (Which I agree looks stupid.)

Abasket- I have that dress from last year when it was full price. I like it. It’s pretty long. Fine for work for me!

Cool MOWC!! How is the drawstring waist thingy? Looks like its at the lower waist which is better for me .

Yeah, I hate coats so try to avoid wearing them unless its below freezing!!!

Love your words, “sweater covering my bum”. :)

It’s sort of a drop waist and not tight.

Enjoying following the thread but have not invested in any leggings myself because I made a couple other purchases earlier in the season that I like quite a bit, and if I do the leggings I really need to get the boots and…

Curse you, Abasket for sending me back to Athleta :)

I like this one too. [Layover Sweatshirt Dress | Athleta](Athleta)

Probably too casual for work although we are a very casual crowd. Maybe with a scarf…

To solve the coat thing, I have been wearing a long cardigan over my dress and leggings. Although doing that with a sweater dress would be redundant, I guess.

EPTR - what color leggings would you wear with that dress?? It looks really comfortable!

Hmmm. I hadn’t thought about that. Would black work? What shoes then?
