I LOVE LEGGINGS!! I only wear them in the fall/winter because I only wear them with boots. I like the thicker kind (Michael Kors has a good one I find at Steinmart) and will pair with longer tops and short dresses that are looser fitting - tight skirts I wear tights with.

Someone posted this up thread and I saved the open page because this is a great example of what I wear leggings with and will be buying it!!!

I just saw that Dillards is carrying a cardigan sweater I bought last year. I wear it with black leggings and a black turtleneck sweater and receive so many compliments on it. A total stranger walked up to me last week, asking where I bought it. (To be honest, I don’t think it’s that cute.)

I just returned from Italy & wanted to report that quite a few Italian women “of a certain age” were wearing leggings with tunics. The black leggings that I ordered from COSTCO & the dress from Soma were perfect for traveling & were very comfortable even on the day I trekked 13 miles around Rome. The charcoal [Born Raisa Boots](http://www.rei.com/product/857410/born-raisa-boots-womens) were the only shoes I needed for the entire trip. Thanks for the suggestions!

I did not make it to the Athleta store on my mini vacation. I think like Deb I look better in something shorter more tunic length.
I spent the weekend in San Francisco and I am reporting that the black legging with boots and tunic style dress was extremely popular with women of all ages. I wore black leggings with a few different shoe and top options. One day I wore a long tunic white linen sweater with black leggings and silver grey pumas. We were doing a lot of walking that day. It sounds strange but I wore a black Patagonia vest over the sweater and I felt pretty stylish. I also found a cute pair of 9 West booties on sale to wear with my leggings. I also wore my Mountain Hardware dress with leggings and tall Born boots. I am now on the lookout for a few more tops.

Okay I still haven’t worn my Costco leggings yet. They fit, but they are more like thick tights to me There is absolutely no give. Is this the way they should be? I guess I was thinking of leggings that would have a little “movement” for lack of a better word, maybe something that looked like really slim pants with lots of stretch.

Am I making myself clear? Or are those 2 different looks?

I think I know what you mean by the two options. To me, leggings should be ALMOST as tight as leggings gs - not quite but almost - but with no tight waistband and no feet. For the other type of look I know a lot of people like these:

I agree with emeraldkitty as far as looseness. I couldn’t do yoga in my leggings because the rise would be seriously inadequate, but that problem is covered when I wear leggings with a dress over.

Those Eddie Bauer ponte pants look more like I was thinking, or more like I’d wear. BUT they are sold out of my size. :(

I’m just afraid to commit to the leggings. I keep flashing back to how great I thought I looked in stirrup pants and I don’t want to repeat that

Mathmom I love almost everything about the blouse. The love the color, print and the buttons. I do not care for the way the front comes down in a V.

I like the hemline on it. I couldn’t wear it with leggings though. Too short. On my body the minimum length I would wear with leggings is about mid thigh. Longer is even better though.

I’m wearing leggings today with a sweater dress. Definitely could do yoga in them. But form fitting enough that they don’t bunch up anywhere. SOOOO much more comfortable then the tights I was wearing last week!

The last (well, probably not last) item I need to get for winter for the legging look is a pair of not-too-high black boots. I’m currently still wearing flats or a more streamlined loafer with a < one inch heel with them. I love that look and feel but frigid temps soon will make it tough to wear them. I have a pair of higher black boots but am not so comfortable wearing them - I probably just need to wear them and get used to that look.
